  1. The one long red wire with a connector on the end, mine has that too, it's used if you have a hood light. You don't so don't worry about that one. The single red wire with the black "bump" thing is aftermarket, it may have been used as a power wire for a stereo or lights or some kind of accessory. The black bump looks like a fuse holder maybe. Trace it into the cab but it's probably disconnected on the other side too. If that's the case, remove it and throw it in the garbage. The black & green wires, where do they go on the other end? Do they go to the blower motor (the round black thing behind your hand in the pic)? The other red wires & relay beside the airbox, that should be there. For some reason the previous owners swapped in all red wiring, who knows why. Leave that stuff alone if your truck is running and deal with other stuff first. No worries there, the one part with the vacuum line is for your EGR. Again, don't mess with that stuff unless it's not working. The two lines coming out of the trans, one is the clutch pressure line (normal), and the other end is used to bleed the clutch (again, normal). No worries there mate. Oh, and relax man, I've felt like selling my Renix '88 Comanche out of repairs frustration. That's normal, you'll get over it and learn a lot along the way with fellow members' help here. I've done only a few steps out of Cruisers' tips, so don't feel like you have to do them all immediately. Take your time, do it right and you'll be fine. p.s. I don't know but I suspect that the previous owner used all that red wiring to run new wires as a result of earlier wiring problems. Possibly related to the C101 connector, maybe not. Cruiser or someone else might know better if that bundle of red wires by your airbox is routed through the C101.
  2. Looks like a seatbelt release button to me.
  3. If you can wait a bit I'll sell you mine, I'm going to switch to the smaller black mirror style. As far as I know the Ford Ranger uses the identical mirror... If you have a mirror on the passenger side, just move that one over to the driver side and you'll be legal for the time being. I only have one on the driver side because it previously broke and the passenger side mirror was moved to the other door.
  4. Crap I've been thinking about buying an exhaust manifold from them, now I'm not so sure...
  5. I'm diggin' that interior color, nice!
  6. For the amount of time it would take to clean the C101 and tweak the terminals, it wouldn't take much longer to solder and permanently fix it. I haven't done either, but it's on my "to-do" list, the soldering. I actually like soldering :)
  7. I'm in western Canada. This is funny, I checked the tire pressures on the truck and found the rear tires were at 40 psi and 48 psi (holy #@*&) so I put them down to 32 psi and oddly enough the rear end doesn't ride so rough LOL. I will have to do something about the springs still, but wow, I wonder why the PO had never checked the tire pressures (the fronts were at 31 psi & 40 psi). They are almost new tires from Wal-Mart so I can only assume Wal-Mart set the pressure and since they were new the PO just never checked them.
  8. The aftermarket manufacturer Crown did make repro versions that were cheaper, I thought I saw them for like $30 each. However I have not seen those for sale in quite a while now, so maybe they stopped making them.
  9. Yes, and these decals look even better than the in the truck in this thread (they're $80 too): http://r.ebay.com/J9xSfh
  10. Aw crap... I got under the truck with the flash light and both springs are cracked all the way through, broken. 2nd leaf from the bottom in front of the U-bolts on both sides. UGH... I don't mind tinkering on my Jeep but now it's becoming a money pit  This thing just passed a provincial safety inspection last December, I wonder how it passed...
  11. Can you tell if the springs are shot by looking at them? I could get a better photo if that helps...
  12. Oh here's the rear link: http://www.suspensionconnection.com/jrc01-comanche-load-support.html Well that sucks that I might be spring shopping... I've got a GoPro so if I can get it rigged up somehow and go for a drive, I'll post the video and you helpful guys can help me figure out why it rides so rough in the rear :-)
  13. Seems reasonable. Is this what I'm looking for? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FQ7TMG/ OK I'm going to check but if I am hitting those bump stops like I think, I will be removing them. Edit: Holy cow is this them? http://www.suspensionconnection.com/jfc01-comanche-load-support.html
  14. Are those stops not stock? The rear of the truck rides horribly rough over bumps. Does everything look stock? Maybe a PO monkeyed with stuff, I don't know. You know... I was thinking just last week that maybe my rear shocks are too long and that's why they are so rough... but after looking at the pic I posted you can tell the axle is hitting the bump stops, and there can't be that much room to move... the bump stops do look big. Anyone got a shot of stock bump stops on a stock truck? p.s. Yeah the spare tire hoist is on my "to-do" list.
  15. OK well as far as I know my Comanche's suspension is stock (maybe is maybe isn't honestly but it looks stock)... here's the deal, I know the "arm" that the rod connects to is supposed to be horizontal when the truck is unloaded but mine clearly is not. Is there some way to fix this? I know at least one member has made an adjustable rod but that's probably not do-able for me. I would like to keep things bone stock for now.
  16. RockAuto does not have any OEM coolant hoses. TeamCherokee is the closest I could find and apparently they're only partially OEM now.
  17. I thought I'd update y'all since I had bumped this thread almost a month ago. My passenger side tailgate "strap?" was rattling like crazy which drove me crazy. Since the cables aren't all they cracked up to be, I just picked up a tailgate rubber bumper piece from the junkyard, modified it to fit, and now my truck is a lot quieter. It cost me nothing. Oh, and I did buy 1" inside diameter heat shrink tubing, guess I don't need that anymore LOL, it's for sale, cheap.
  18. I say go for it, you have the skills.
  19. Do *not* settle for that truck unless you can get it for like $500. Do like I did, put a want-ad in Kijiji looking for a Comanche. That's how I found mine, the guy didn't list it for sale publicly so I had to compete with no one for it, he literally "held it" for me to come look.
  20. I just bought some less than a month ago from eBay, new NOS. He has more get 'em before they're gone -- http://www.ebay.com/itm/121310229779
  21. That's cool. I bet Canada isn't in there though. Fortunately car-part.com has lots of Canadian salvage yards in it. Unfortunately the one I visit the most doesn't keep their website up-to-date nor are they listed in car-part.com, but they have a lot of turnover.
  22. Tell your friend to turn his phone sideways next time and shoot video in the proper orientation.
  23. Does anyone have a pair (left & right) of the black manual mirrors? And how much would you want for them including shipping to Canada? All I find lately at the junkyard are power painted XJ mirrors, I think I want plain old manual mirrors and don't want to pay lots by buying new from Amazon, RockAuto, etc. I'm going to keep my eye on the junkyard but if someone here has a good used set I would consider them if shipping isn't too outrageous.
  24. Sweet truck overall, if it was near me, it would be mine already LOL
  25. Coffin rack??
