  1. I'm not surprised. I have yet to see one on the road up here yet.
  2. I got a whole set of ratcheting open end wrenches including stubbies, SAE and metric and finally a creeper for the garage!

    New Truck

ICONs look great on a ZJ. I woulda never thought!
  4. He traded his MJ for this truck... You need to find a gooseneck trailer to hook to that thing. Even if its just for a picture!!
  5. Took jeep ice fishing on Lake of Woods, about as far north you can go in Minnesota, yesterday Dec 19. We did very well and came home with limits. 12-14" inches of ice. About a 2.5 hour drive. Got around 16mpg driving 65-75 most of the trip. (At 4am) Put on some JK Rubicon wheels with some brand new take off tires. They are that special JK Rubicon Mud Terrain tire. 255/75/17 which is a 32" tall tire. I had to use wheel spacers to fit the wheels. Still gotta get the bottom panels installed on the ARB bumper. Also have rock rails but I gotta the rails and the bottom panels sandblasted and painted first..

    Wow!

Agreed! Imagine what it's like at highway speeds pulling that trailer with a 5 foot (lol) wheel base!! They are cool for what they are. Here's one forsale on pirate. Good price IMO for a running and driving rig. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/complete-vehicles-sale/1220610-cj10a-military-tug.html
  7. I have never owned a WJ. But, they are the last of a dieing breed. Solid axles and coils in all 4 corners. I'm thinking my next Offroad build will be a WJ with a 4.7. Comfortable wheeler and DD and the buy in price is dropping everyday. I like my WK so far, but I have not really turned a wrench on it.... The QDII is absolutely awesome!
  8. Aftermarket rear glass and a fey bumper..
  9. Of course it gets good gas mileage, it doesn't use any!
  10. Just throw it in the corner. Replacement tanks can be purchased for around 100 bucks if the need arises in the future. Just think of the abuse that tank sees when it's under a truck! Plug holes to keep critters out.
  11. There's a difference between a Craigslist price and a forum price...
  12. To do a 3" correctly you would replace your front springs and LCAs. Stock uppers are fine. 31s and 3" lift look nice with stock flares. I would look into replacing the track bar with a adjustable unit sooner then later. Double shear mount is the way to go. Before you do anything make sure your TREs, ball joints, u joints, etc are in good condition. Lifting a jeep with a slight wobble stock,, lifted it will make it alot worse. Also, if you don't replace your trackbar, the bushings are likely shot and there is a possibility you may get death wobble when you lift it.

    Wow!

That's a old tug. If it was truly a CJ10, it would be a neat find. That's a CJ10a that they removed the tug box, counter weight and dully with d70 and installed a what looks to be custom box. That is a custom jeep, not extremely rare tho. I owned a tug once. Paid $300. Thought it was a good deal till I started pricing out parts for that Diesel engine!!
  14. Order some new springs from Hell Creek for the back with some new u-bolts.
  15. I'd change the CPS again. This time buy a middle of the pack price from rock auto or something. Install and see if anything changes. If not, you'll always have a spare CPS. Swap your relays out with known good ones also..
  16. These pipe dream threads are fun.... Check out the J20 in the "your other projects" section. That's a jeep truck tow rig. Towing in ND is one thing, towing in CO is another. For 10k, you could find a reg cab cummins 12v-24v with a manual trans and 4 wheel drive, rebuild the front end and buy a trailer. There's gotta be a few old welder trucks in ND that have been up for sale.. Bottom line is a MJ does not make a good tow rig. It's been stated on here till everyone is blue in the face.
  17. That's cool. Nice little garage art/workbench.
  18. I checked the fluid warm and it was a little low. I added the 1/2 quart I had left. Perfect. Drives just fine now. No more stalling. Amazing how sensitive these newer trans are!
  19. I probably did knowing thinking that that was the original problem. I'm just gonna deal with it now till spring.
  20. Ever since I changed the filters mine has been stalling. I used MOPAR parts... I was hoping it was not related.. Great. Wonder if the trans was so full of crap, it filled the new filters already... Less then 100 miles...
  21. You just bring these to a welding supply shop to have them filled then I suppose?
  22. When I bought my new 2012 Ram 2500, they did tell me at the dealer that heavy towing is not recommended within 1000 miles. I have a friend that bought a brand new super duty, less then 500 miles on the truck, loaded up 3 HEMI JKs and headed to the Black Hills. (About 900 miles away) No issues besides not be able to keep up to a similarly loaded 5.9 Cummins! Changing gear oil isn't going to hurt anything. I would change it once with new gears and I have been told in the past if a locker is installed, you should change it 3 times. ARB was the locker we where talking about. Changes after trail rides or every few hundred miles.
  23. WOW. I can see that happening behind a diesel pusher. Specially if its just a light weight vehicle like a XJ.
  24. You don't need insurance on a vehicle that is on a trailer. In MN, you need insurance even if the vehicle is on a tow dolly. If any axle is on the ground, insurance is needed. (This is what I was told by the u-haul place a few years ago. Never researched past that.) Wow - I checked with my insurance company, and they told me I was covered for both the tow vehicle and anything being towed. Now I am a little scared. I understand the reason you gave... but consider that the source in your case is not a disinterested party since they stand to gain by renting you a trailer! :D I guess it is worth double-checking. Yeah I've heard that too about the vehicle being towed is just as insured as the tow rig. But there's alot of technicalities involved. Besides, it's nicer to just tug a trailer. Buddy of mine towed a Jetta 1100 miles with a tow dolly and it screwed up the front end alignment. Flat towing sucks do to what Pete said about the unknown condition of the drivetrain. Then you need to mess with lights, no brakes etc. A tow bar isn't the easiest to hook up on our trucks either....I used a tow bar to pull a '89 70 miles with a lifted XJ. That MJ pretty much told the XJ where it wanted to go. Stupid but I made it. Had to take the front end apart to get the hooks of the tow bar onto the bumper. Trailers are king. Safe and easy.
  25. So if you don't have floor pans, you cannot pass inspection?
