I just wonder if there is any advantage to using the TSM manf brackets over these? -

Rear Disc Brake Conversion D44

I have a MJ44 I plan to use. They are not worth more then a 8.25 up here. Some people pay stupid money for them I know. LOL The 8.25 that's in the truck is going in the 86 and the 86 will be rehomed. Thanks for the links. I was scoffing at the price of the whole kit, not the brackets. I would spend $250 for the brackets and the main question there was "what could I use for rotors and calipers?" Sorry that wasn't made clear. Yes I do plan someday to put cromo axles and a locker in the MJ 44. Just empty every pocket. I'm not cheap and never will be. Is it a crime to want brand new parts? But not pay 650 for friggen rear brakes?! -
Have you explored the northshore of Lake Superior via hwy 61 all the way up to Grand Portage? Get this book. http://www.walmart.com/ip/10844744?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227005160000&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=t&wl3=42153606310&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=38001378310&veh=sem It's worth it. Brittany and I will probably make it a yearly thing to spend a few days exploring up there. Very cool.

I have never messed with brakes other then changing pads and rotors and shoes. I am planning to replace the 8.25 in my project with a MJ d44. I have been driving myself crazy searching on here, naxja, pirate for a good write up for folks like me that don't have a clue what they are messing with pertaining to replacing rear drums with discs. Can anyone point out a thread (Ben) or build where someone detailed their install with all NEW parts? I'd rather not to dig around a junkyard for a day to pull parts off a ZJ or another factory equipped vehicle. There's always this: http://www.tsmmfg.com/2562-44.html But ooffda, that's a lot of cash. I have seen where folks have bought the TSM brackets and where able to source their own rotors and calipers. Like Monte Carlo stuff or caddy stuff from the 80s. But I was not successful in finding a thread that states what works! I have a WJ master/booster installed with the stock XJ prop valve which I haven't messed with yet either.

I should be keeping this around for awhile. I was having Cummins withdrawals. I survived about a month since I traded my last one in. This one popped up on a local dealer lot. I owned a reg cab CTD before and said I'd never have another but I really like the look. Gonna have to get a tool box maybe. Specially if I'm going to be using it as a plow truck the reg cab has it advantages. The truck is a early build 2003. That means it's got a 47re auto, not the 48re like the rest of the 3rd gen trucks. But it's a common rail 5.9 which I have never owned. I have had 3 different 6.7s and one 2nd gen vp44 truck. It's got 194k but runs as drives like 50k. Here's when I first got it home. I spent today removing the flares and replacing the headlights. The fender flare installer removed the cummins emblem from the fender but left the adhesive behind. Took a good hour to get that crap off. Removing the flares showed me the typical fender rust on the box that every 10 year old truck has up here.. I do plan to have it repaired. Still undecided if I'm going to totally debadge the truck. Keeping the cummins emblem tho. After a bath. Lots of dirt under the fender flares. Oh and new headlights. Not sure if I like them or not. They are LED projector type. Got a deal on them. But I kept the stock ones just in case. Coming up... -Body rust repair -New BOSS 7'6" straight blade. Previous owner just installed a plow/undercarriage before he traded it. It's only plowed a few times. But he kept the plow and wiring. - Stainless 5" exhaust/CAI -tow mirrors -Bigger tires. 35s probably on stock wheels. -leveling kit with new longer control arms maybe. (Need longer arms for 35s to clear with a leveling kit) -aftermarket stereo -built trans -no added power, at least not for awhile But I really need to work on my MJ so the big stuff is gonna have to wait. Huh well I guess most of it is big stuff.....ahh.

That was one of my thoughts about the injector. Maintenance hasn't really a top priority.....sorry to say but true.

Ok. That's gonna be a 2 man job to do that I suppose. See what I can find out.
