8.25 Chrysler XJ axle is a good option in my opinion, especially if you have the means to weld new perches on . You can add disc brakes too if that's your liking . The axles are plentiful and come in 3:55 ratio.

What are you using the truck for ? What size tire are you running /will be running? What gear ratio do you have /want ?

Endless tail light search
Strokermjcomanche replied to SIERRA051's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I see tail lights for sale all the time between $100-$150 ( yes people ask and get more ) . Ive had 15 MJs over 23 years and currently have 4 , besides having been rear ended twice when the truck was parked I've never broken a tail light . I know now there are several types of MJ owners , the crawlers / off roaders , the purists / daily drivers , the hotrodders etc . If you're going to be in scenarios where you will be beating the truck against trees /rocks / whatever slam some cheap Dakota lights it with a little work . If you don't like the looks of those then spend good money on something you can potentially ruin the next time on the trail . If you're a purist take extra care when you load the truck / back up etc and you shouldn't have to buy another pair of stock lights or rusty stuff in the future. Its obviously you're truck to do what you want and I don't have an issue with whatever you do , it's just my two cents . -

mini-console same for str and auto?
Strokermjcomanche replied to Manche757's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It was a brand new console in a parts collection, I didn't see any knee board when I was there . I wouldn't be back there for several months until I build up some more cash flow to purchase more parts -

I seen people opening doors on other concept vehicles, and when they got to the TC the doors were locked . I wasn't going to try to open it anyhow as there are way more pictures on Facebook including the interior .

Bodywork/Hillbilly Engineering Help
Strokermjcomanche replied to NC Tom's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Take a wide putty knife and insert it between the door and fender in the gap . As you try to open the door ,pry the fender forward until the door gets behind the fender . Then insert the putty knife behind the fender and infront of the door and start to shut the door and the putty knife will pus the fender out far enough so the door and fender won't touch again. You'll probably have to work up and down the gap to get good results. -
My truck was hit from behind
Strokermjcomanche replied to Virginia's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I was hit exactly like that , except it was the drivers side and a bit worse . Tail light , bumper and bed were ruined . The kid that hit me I went to school with ,he was drunk behind the wheel and lived 5 houses down from me . His father sold insurance 30+ years and fought tooth and nail with his company to get me the money I needed to fix my truck , went to my insurance company after they wanted to total my truck and they wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole and I had full coverage. Unfortunately the insurance company doesn't pay for sentimental value or value of other Comanches out there , only the price book they go off of . My my brother in Colorado and his roommate were hit by in milk truck at 2am (while asleep) in a cultisac . My brother had a 2014 Jetta with 40k he just paid 10k for 5 months before , and his roommate had a 2018 escape with 9k miles . The milk company was very apologetic, but in the end they totaled out both vehicles with very minimal/fixable damage . Here is the damage -
My truck was hit from behind
Strokermjcomanche replied to Virginia's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've been through the whole totaling scenario , normally when damage exceeds 80% of the vehicles value they total it out . Your insurance treats it the same way unless you have it insured for a higher amount . Every state is different, but if you want to keep a clean title find out the dollar amount that won't total the truck out and consider taking that amount . If you don't care about a clean title get whatever money you can from the insurance company, buy your truck back and fix it . This varies on state to state , but that's how it is in Ohio . Average price of the tail light $50 Bumper $150-$200 and that bed section should be easy to harvest off of a rusty bed that is going to be scrapped anyhow . Any idea what they're dollar amount is ? -
