Foreman, your truck has a great stance! ...must look away....must retain the notion of keeping it at stock height......must---I can't look away!!!!! :fs2:

Weird. I have only had problems with Photobucket using their Mobile site on my cell phone. Been using my free Photobucket account since 2002 or so :dunno: Another popular site is www.Flikr.com

After having 1 too many pasture fires loose control  we never burn without at least 2 ATVs with spray tanks. Lately we have been using the 200 gallon spray tank on the Deere for fire fighting as well. Had no issues at all this past spring with the burns! It is good you got the fire put out. Those can turn real nasty, real fast.

1992 Jeep Comanche 4.0L HO / AW4 / 231 / D30 / D35 / Long Bed Build date: 9-91 Mileage: 195,000 miles Current Location: Central Kansas Status: This truck was my daily driver. It is now a project truck and not on the road as of 11/09. Notes: Colorado Red exterior - Had the factory "splash" decal Gray interior - Bench seat - Carpeted floor - Column Shift - Upgraded to the full cluster Rear 4-piece slider window This truck suffers from major body rot, even though not obvious in the picture. It is currently under going a 99XJ conversion. "WHY?!?!" You may ask. The body needed to be brought down to the shell and the drivetain was tired. Not to mention a worn out interior and several cut wires in the wiring harness. You can follow by build by clicking "92 Comanche" in my signature below. Current owner: I am the current owner

I don't get it? Do you simply not have space? Find a local Jeep club and somebody can probably help you out. Or save your pennies and wait till next year. Mow a few more yards this year and shovel driveways this winter. Then take it to one of the more reputable shops and love your truck. You can take baby steps and do the small things at home. Diff covers and the liner come to mind. I've never understood why some folks want their Jeeps built up over night. I have been building my rubi since 03 and it still has a lot left to go.

Hey Pete, the Miata has the power window switches in the center console :rotfl2:

Hey welcome back :wavey: If I ever had to re-enter my password I would have to do the forgot password thing.

I don't mind the KJ at all. It would get more love if they came with a SFA. We will start seeing more and more of them on the trails as they become cheap to buy, just like what happened to the XJ.

Get them soda blasted, prime, and paint with the Duplicolor wheel paint. Silver or graphite in color. I bought a set of Moabs in much worse condition and spent a lot of time sanding, priming, and painting one wheel. It looks great, but is not butter smooth so I wil get them all soda blasted first to get a smooth base to work with. The stock polished, not painted, moabs on my rubi are getting pretty bad due to rock rash ripping the clear coat off. I will blast and paint them when they are too hideous to look at. All of the newer Moab wheels are painted from the factory. You might not want to use the tires if they sat for long. Don't want dry rot to sneak up on you at 70mph.

For the last couple of months my father has been asking me questions about TJ Rubicons... and they just kept getting more and more specific. He has test driven a few of the modified local rigs, but has been very disappointed in how they look and ride. My guess is he is expecting something like my Rubi, which I baby and have not gone cheap building. Example, one was an 06 Rubi with 30K miles. Seats were faded and worn out, carpet was junked, shock bushings had about a half inch of play in them, and the dealer still wanted $21K for it. I am back last weekend for the Jeep Jamboree and he has 3 Rubis he is bidding on, online. I wouldn't be surprised if he buys one this week. It makes me laugh because he has never been a Jeeper, but has had a few sweet 4x4 pickups over the years. Guess he really liked wheeling in my Rubi.

I will never again list my phone number within the CL listing. I did once and immediately started receiving telemarketers. They have not stopped and was 2 years ago. I also only use the random CL email forward for the same reason. I also embed large, CLEAR pictures from photobucket in the listing. However, I always reply to an email within 24 hours, usually within 8 hours. I also include my phone number in the reply. I prefer to communicate via email, just because I HATE using the phone, up to when it comes time to arrange a meeting.

I was once in a cross state race for an XJ that was on CL located in deep rural MO. Told the guy I would be there noon on a sat morning. I call at 7am, no answer, to let him know I have been on the road for a few hours and am on the way. Left a message. At 9am I call to say I am 3 hrs out. This time he picks up and asks if I am on the way, because he has a guy from Iowa on the way. At this point I already picked up a uhaul dolly. Luckily the guy from Iowa had a trailer bearing lock up on him 100 miles out. I was strapping down the Jeep, signed title in hand, when another (more local) fellow shows up for the Jeep. He was plenty upset I had the XJ and the CL poster vanished. I felt bad, but I had already been up since 5am and the Jeep was fairly mine.

If you happen to stumble across an MJ in the greater KC area I would be more than happy to check it out for you. I found my truck using searchtempest.com Good luck in your search. It took me 5 months to find a truck I would exchange cash for... And it turned out to be in real bad shape rust wise.

It sat in a barn thinking about all of the work ahead, yet not making any progress.

Jeep sputters when i step on gas, VID
87Warrior replied to nameless's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Bad gas? Clogged fuel filter? Fouled plugs? Vacuum leak? Distributor dirty? Mouse living in your catalytic converter? Have you let it get good and hot yet? Something might need to just 'burn away' after sitting for so long. -
I peeled off the leather wrapping on my 92 wheel because it was oozing black goop out of the little vent holes. The steering wheel was hard plastic similar to our 93 XJ with the plastic wheel. However, it was white ;)

Like em or not, I thought once you are president you are always referred to as 'President whatshisname'. Granted that would have made the story a bit complicated. :jump:

I saw that blue one on RC Crawler the other day. I don't know, I don't think MJs look good with a flat bed. I ordered all metal suspension links for my truck. Should be delivered in a couple of days.

Floor brace and Seat bracket studs
87Warrior replied to 87Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Did you leave-in or remove the seat mounting studs? If removed, how did you go about it? If left in, did they cause any interference? -
Floor brace and Seat bracket studs
87Warrior replied to 87Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Replacing the floor pans. Also want to gain access to the 'frame' channel to treat the inside with POR15 and get one of the X-member nuts back in place. I have the front and back portions of the channel free (cut the back edge) as well as the sides (I HATE spot welds!). I believe the seat mounting studs are keeping the brace from lifting right out. The problem is I can not see how they attach or what they do under the brace. Or am I missing something? -
I am still trying to get the frame braces out of the truck in reusable condition. Spot welds are cut and the 2 through the floor bolts are removed. I am positive the braces are being held in place with the seat studs in the floor. What is the best way to work around these? Cut around them? Remove them? What did you do? Thanks!

Thanks for the bumper pic. Looks a little to out-of-wack for me to straighten. Would you be willing to sell me the brackets only?
-
How bad is the rear bumper? Are the brackets straight?
