  1. Headed to pick up this D44 front axle out of a 2005 Rubicon on Sunday. It has the 15" Vanco Big Brake kit (EBC Green Pads), ORO U-Turn steering with 7075 Aluminum Tie Rod (new TRE's), RE Track Bar, RockCrusher Diff Cover, 4:10 Gears, Alloy USA Axle shafts and Alloy USA axle seals. Has a busted front locker (typical for the rub lockers when loaded up). Figure $2500 in after market parts  My plan is to take the ORO Steering, trackbar end, shafts and seals out of this axle and install them in my Rubi. Afterall, I planned on buying all of those parts anyhow! All of the stock stuff I take out of my axle will go into this housing for the Comanche, resulting in a decent axle for my project truck... (D44, Rockcrusher, 4.10s, Vanco Brakes, and a replacement locker). Then I just need to get my MJ D44 geared and rebuilt and I'll be good to go
  2. Parting out a 1987 Jeep Comanche 2 wheel drive. No engine or transmisson in truck and front in wrecked. Call for parts 620-662-4366 http://wichita.craigslist.org/pts/2018303755.html That thing looks RUST FREE!
  3. :agree: Thank you for your service and for keeping us free!
  4. There is a classic XJ commecial online somewhere that brags about seating 5 adults comfortably. They showed the back seat and the fellow in the middle is all contorted! Rather hilarious. 3 kids across the back of a 4 door should be no problem. The 2 door feels narrow in the back due to how the plastic side molding is configured.
  5. Its just what any, civil, human being would do. Maybe its that silly little riddle my folks always told me as a kid, 'only do to others what you'd want them to do to you.' The next time I am in the Rockies, TJ or MJ, we'll need to wheel. If you are dead set on a repayment, a day on the trails will have to do. Cheers, Brett
  6. Question: In MO, when you buy a new or used vehicle, from in or out of state, and go to get it registered, is there any inspection required other than the the safety inspection you get at Firestone? As far as I can tell my company truck has only ever been subject to the safety inspection and never been emissions tested. Maybe visual?
  7. I would like to see how they define "number"
  8. Well Rob, you motivated me... Sounds familiar (MJ RC... :fs2: ) I started gutting my Jeep boombox. Yuck. Pulled out my Rubis OEM radio and located the pinouts. My plan is to install 4 speakers, two in the standard location, then two more on the new face plate. A quick rendition of my idea. Image Not Found
  9. Hmmm, and my Missouri friends tell me their state government is much more lenient than KS. If I am reading that correctly, the second part of that seems to be more about vehicle titling. It states they will look at the engines serial number to ID the vehicle if another form is not there (i.e VIN). Hence why they want the replacement motor info to match the vehicle. Now that first one... I don't see where it specifies the engine SIZE or anything needs to remain the same. No two motors share the exact same serial number. What I am reading is that they want to know the serial number of the replacement motor, who did it, when, and why. They want the replacement (reconditioned or new) motor to be tagged as a non original motor. It doesn't really specify what to do if the motor you stick in is a junkyard pull. I would like to see the director of revenue locate a serial number on any greasy engine block.
  10. That is a pretty good deal considering it covers all parts and labor (less the lockers) :brows:
  11. I have my USED and ABUSED Jeep boombox like that, but in black with a cassette player instead of a LCD TV. I ran into some problems with it 6 years ago. 1. CD player quit working 2. The radio "tune" knob broke and would not change the station, fixed this with Krazy Glue 3. Antenna jack broke and could no longer receive signal. Used one of those old Cassette adapters that you could plug into your mp3 player to still get music out of the boombox. 4. Speakers blew Now it sits in the garage. I want to gut it and install a black piece of plastic where the original knobs/cd/cassette used to be. Then stick a factory Jeep radio in their, upright and wire it to new speakers/12v power source. Then take a YJ or TJ antenna mount and place it on the side of the box and use a factory Jeep antenna to receive tunes from the airwaves. Image Not Found Image Not Found I also have this Jeep Lantern/TV combination: TV is black and white, everything but the clock works 100% (needs a new battery). It sits in a closet at my folks place. I think they pulled it out a few years ago when an ice storm knocked out the power for a week.
  12. Have any details? :waving:
  13. Is yours torn up or missing? Want my non-CAD HP D30 with 3.55's? I have 2. We can swap since I need to keep it rolling chassis. I had to fix my old YJs CAD with some vacuum tubing since battery acid ate through it and the previous owner routed it so vacuum was always applied, and locked. If you can find a vacuum diagram, it should be a piece of cake to repair the harness with vacuum tubing from your favorite auto parts store. You could also just apply vacuum to the CAD so it is always locked. There is really no down side (all newer D30s are locked all the time) except the 4wd light won't work (if it is operated by vacuum like my YJs was).
  14. I bought my Rubi with holes like that.... under two of the cylinders
  15. I agree! A wood heated garage/shop would be ideal. Heck, growing up we primarily used firewood to heat the house. Fill the fire box with Hedge (osage orange) and it will make you sweat though out the night and still be HOT in the morning. I did inquire about this prior to renting here. The only thing you can legally do is change out the electrical fixtures (ceiling fan, overhead lighting, switch covers...), no paint, no construction or anything. Keep the suggestions coming. I will look into the propane systems as well, and if I go that route I will make sure my CO monitor is in working order.
  16. Well cool beans! I was secretly wishing I was wrong because it is so dang cool.
  17. Smells like a photoshop... but I have been wrong before. Just look at how perfect those two evergreens above the roof on the right match up. Cool none-the-less.
  18. Jeepman did the Dakota tank in order to fit the 97+ XJ fuel pump/sender for his full on conversion. I too plan on going the same way with my 97+XJ retrofit.
  19. I plan on going the same route eventually. A little help with suppliers and part numbers would be great :clapping:
  20. I am in search of a quality garage heater. My current garage is small at 12' x 20' and is part of an apartment building. My living corridors are on the 2nd floor above the garage and 2 of my neighbors. I want to heat the garage so it is comfortable to work on the Jeep during the dead of winter. Since this unit is a rental Gas and 240v heaters can not be considered. Growing up, my father always used a Kerosene powered forced air heater in the garage. It works great and will last a long time on a tank of fuel. I am not sure if Kerosene or even propane powered heaters would be wise to use in this small garage directly attached to living corridors. Not to mention a lot of those would bake me out of this tiny garage. This has led me to explore electric heaters. My experience is limited with anything bigger than the floor heater you can keep under a desk. It seems that just about all 120v heaters max out at 1500w of power producing about 5000BTU of heat. Not substantial, but it should be enough for my small garage. Then there are those infrared heaters to consider. I have seen everything from $20 Milk-house style to $400 ceiling hung infrared units. Please discuss, comment, or make suggestions. I want to be happy working on the Jeep this winter!
  21. Take your time on a full recovery. The manche can be replaced or repaired.
  22. I decided to drain my paypal account for the cause and to help out. Brett
  23. Pete, can you remind us what the clubs paypal address is? I hate to hear when hard working folks loose their belongings. :(
  24. Bah, if you poke your self just go eat a bowl of ice cream or a burrito. What is a cats sugar level supposed to be at? My doc tells me to aim for 100. (yes I'm diabetic). How much insulin do you give him each time? I'll never understand why vets don't recomend checking their pets blood sugar at least once a day to see exactly how they react to day to day activities. You could actually go to the pharmacy and pick up a glucometer for $50 (like the walgreens brand) and some strips. Why should our pets follow a diabetic routine that is 30 years old? Drawing blood from a cat might be interesting though! Just don't let him eat/drink anything with carbs out side of his diet and you should have few issues.
  25. Well he has bid on a few and lost. Missed out on an '03, 100K miles, $12K. Now also looking at totaled Rubis and thinking of selling the boat for shop space. He has expanded his search to 1000 miles from home. Figured he and I could fly out to a Jeep and I could drive it home while he flys back (has has his pilots license). He and I share the same opinion on the "unlimited" TJs (and JKS) we just don't like 'em.
