  1. Agreed Assuming the CJ8 is not rusted out. I generally don't like the Iroc Camaros, but your looks clean and as if it has a good stance. With some work that CJ8 will only go UP in value, not sure about that Camaro.
  2. I think that would be plenty. Just don't go and buy random stuff he'll never use, just for the sake of monetary equilibrium. If it where me, I'd rather get a higher end specialty tool like a torque wrench, granted I don't get excited about any game system. The parents will be a bit more tricky. You obviously have a good idea what they like or are interested in after living with them for 10 months. One of those picture frames with inspirational quotes and a family photo are generally a safe gift. Something hand made or creative is better though. Can you draw? Bake? Create something they would cherish? A clean house and breakfast made on Christmas morning would also be good.
  3. The exact bore size, if done properly, is matched to the piston ;)

I think what you are after is a Kindle. It is sold by Amazon and used solely for reading. You wirelessly (free 3G connection) download books and read them on the device. The good thing is, once you buy a book you can always retrieve it again online if your Kindle ever screws up or goes missing. http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-Wireless-R ... B0015T963C My wife is a book worm and has one. She loves it. Takes it on camping trips, while out wheeling, or when we travel long distances to pick up Jeep parts. She has had one of the first styles for 2 years and it continues to work flawlessly.
  5. I just had the local machine shop do it for me back in the day for my Yamaha Warrior and Blaster top ends. Take your piston in and let them have at it. If it is a 2 stroke, make sure they chamfer the ports leaving no burrs or edges.
  6. Wouldn't be bad if it wasn't so, YELLOW!
  7. Oh man, now the gears are turning This is exciting because all I have been doing to the truck is looking at the floors :ack: I do not know much about the various truck models out on the market, so I turned to CC who might know. I did some visual searching tonight and am really stuck on the 07-11 Tundra 3rd/bed light. It is simple with straight lines, like our trucks. However, I need to check the cab contours out and pull out a ruler. Plus and OEM light from Toyota is cheaper than an aftermarket LED. Image Not Found
  8. As many of you know, I am building my truck as a '99 XJ conversion. The XJ has a 3rd brake light integrated into the wiring harness and I would like to add one to the back of my cab. Not only because it is part of the harness, but for safety reasons to protect me and my mint MJ bed. In addition to a 3rd brake light, I would like to have the light also have a cargo or bed light built into it. I plan on operating it via a factory XJ/TJ fog light switch in the dash. Example, from newer Silverado: Now the search for a light. I would like something factory-esque. Are there any modern trucks that have an integrated 3rd brake/cargo light that have similar cab contours as the MJ? Or are there any short and flat 3rd brake/cargo lights that could fit on the flat portion of the cab, directly above the rear window? Talk me through your experience, thoughts, or options.
  9. Those look good. Putting them on my list. How much lift, if any, did it really net you? I have had great experiences with all of my JKS parts. I had one swaybar disco bend a little and they sent me a new one with no fuss.
  10. My Rubicon D44 rear does not have the inner seals, just the outer bearing and seal. I have not started tearing down my MJ D44. See below: However, the front D44 in the Rubicon has the inner seal.
  11. Last week I had to take my company truck, 2010/2wd/4banger, ranger with 20K miles on a road that more or less resembled a wagon trail to access a substation so I could inspect the lines :hmm: It did not 'feel' as solid as my MJ, but it managed with my skilled driving (low man on the totem-pole does not get 4wd). My previous truck (a 2004) had 190K miles and was decommissioned by the fleet company due to worn out IFS chassis components this summer, ran like a top still. I do not like the ergonomics of the Ranger and would never recommend the truck. Just not comfortable. But they have a proven track record.
  12. Any 2000-2006 TJ 4.0 will work for you. I would guess any WJ 4.0 will work for you.
  13. Does it have the coil rail bolted to the head, or a distributor? 1999 was the transition year. The WJ and TJ share the same mounting positions on the block and are bolt in. I installed a 2000WJ block 4.0 in my 2003TJ while rebuilding the TJs motor. It was bolt in with the exception of a couple sensors. The WJ wheels won't bolt to the MJ, unless you by the spidertrax spacer adapters.
  14. In all honesty, I think you would be money ahead (and have a smaller headache) to find a 91-95 XJ to swap the motor/tranny/t-case and fuel injection system from. This way you will also get the proper radiator and hoses for the swap. Then it would be just a matter of moving the engine harness to the MJ and adapting it to the MJ dash (or swap the XJ dash and adapt the bed harness to the XJ tail lamp assembly). If you want a '92 4.0 long block to wrench on, I've got one taking up space in the barn (it was in my truck before starting the 99XJ swap).
  15. Should be a fun project Subscribing to your build
  16. Does Herc stick to bare metal? If not, you might want to shoot it with a self etching primer first.
  17. Someday I will try fried turkey. All I have ever had is the basic baked in the oven. Truth be told, my favorite Thanksgiving food is grandmas mashed potatoes! Yummm.
  18. :waving: We Comanche people take the one resource we have about our trucks seriously... Unless you are streetjeep :fool:
  19. May sound silly, but you are setting them in the 'pointed down' position right? I fought the lights for a week until I accidentally pushed the lens down. Dirty contacts will also prevent the lights from coming on.

:jump: Ha! I was wondering where that was going. Have a happy Thanksgiving everyone.
  21. The car is an automatic and does not have the fancy VIP factory alarm system. Not sure about a chipped key. Wow, this is just about perfect for her, plus the FOB is very similar to the factory yoda FOB. Due to the excessive weight in key chains and department store 'savers' cards on her key ring, it will be critical to get one with the keyless entry included. As I sit here and think about it, it would make since to have a shop do the install... its getting cold outside and I would rather work on the MJ and TJ.
  22. I can attest to this. Man talk about kicking butt on this truck. You weren't kidding when you told me you were going to get a lot done on it this week. Looking good. I take it you are going with a RED truck :brows: I have been itching to get back and work on my truck, this is torture
  23. My wife wants remote start for her 02 Camry LE 4-banger. Should I find a kit and hook it up in the driveway? I am very comfortable with a soldering iron and can follow wiring diagrams. Or should I find a local shop and pay to have them install their kits? Any recommendations on what a good remote start unit is? We DO NOT want one with an alarm.
  24. Let us know how the Soda Blasting works for you. I plan on taking my truck to get the chassis/floor/cab soda blasted within the next month or so. Fellow has a $10K soda blaster. Way to get at it, this truck is going to be a mean wheeler in no time!
  25. It sounds like something loose in the front suspension. I would inspect the trackbar bushings. Steering wheel center can be adjusted via the drag-link. Its a TJ diagram, but the MJ is built the same way:
