Go Stihl or go home. I have used nearly all of those disposable saws in the past and will never return. My father still runs his two McCulloch saws from 25 years ago. They are NOT the same as the McCulloch saws of today. However, the fuel pump mechanisms within the blocks have worn out and will not run long on a long hot day. He picked up a Stihl 391 as a replacement. Its like a Cadillac. Within my immediate family we have 4 Stihl saws: - 260 Pro - 290 - 361 Pro (no longer made) - 391 The pro saws seem to run like a V8 with a big cam. Kind of lumpy but smooths out once you hit the throttle. My fathers saw is smoother running but is heavier and does not rev quite like the Pro version. Its a shame they did away with the 361 Pro. I LOVE using that saw.

Its their 20th annual (Jeep) Jamboree for Breast Cancer Awareness. They look real good. Seem to be in better condition than most cars with leather that are only 5 years old. But to be honest, I HATE LEATHER seats. In my opinion nothing good can ever come from leather seats... besides the smell of leather in the cab. Then again, I am one of those folks who find the factory seats in my TJ unbelievably comfortable.

Ad fails to mention the mis-matched tailgate on the truck. Would be cheaper than building one your self... It does look sharp though.

My crude understanding of oil says yes. You can even mix conventional and synthetics of the same weight.

Last weekend I started removing the floor braces. My goal was to use the 3/8 and 5/16 spot weld drillers. But I ran into a problem. The steel is much thicker than your basic sheet metal which the remover is designed for. Thus they do not cut all the way down, requiring the additional use of a drill bit. How did you remove the floor braces? I want to keep them in good shape since I will be reusing them. Is there a spot weld remover designed for thicker metal? Maybe use a small hole saw with a mark to 'stop so I don't drill through? Looking for thoughts and experience. Thanks!

I see the MJ rockers are MJ specific, which is nice to see. I do not see the same for the floor pan. Are they the typical replacment pan for an XJ that requires some work to fit? How far back does the floor pan go? I started pulling the braces off of the floor this weekend and discovered holes in the floor at the back of the cab.

I did not drive the XJ once last week as I just used the company truck. Its a 4cyl 2wd 2010 ranger. Pure gutless. Took me at lest 3 stop lights to re-learn the might 4.0s power band. Kept flooring it at the green and spinning tires. That Ford made me acustomed to driving a pig, which the XJ certainly is not! Was quite the shocker!

I know the dupli-color spray on liner will stick to plastic with good prep.

Thanks man. I ordered my MJ body straight from Pro Line. Showed up in a few days. I used 4 fasteners to hold the body and bed together. Those two mounted alone felt pretty darn sturdy, so I don't think you will have anything to worry about. Sounds like you have a pretty slick machine, can't wait to see it!

If you are any good at plastic work you can. The interior comes as a whole molded piece for the XJ. Could cut the bench seat out of the back and form it in place of the buckets.

My buddy picked up a black one with all of those options for free from his recently widowed neighbor. It was her husbands. Had 253K hard ks miles on it and was rusted out. The fellow used it as a hunting rig and the bloody carpet was proof of that. He wound up buying a 01 XJ and left this one in a barn some where.

Oh yeah. You were busy organizing the run to KS rocks. Welcome to Comanche Club! :wavey: How is the search going?

Hate to be a thread hog, but I got her buttoned back together this evening. Rob, where are your updates?! Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found There are still a few things I want to get done to the body, including modified rock sliders, a more scale front bumper deal, and a whip antenna to act as the transmission antenna. The back window is BEGGING for a Comancheclub sticker :rotf: The nice thing about the floor pan is that it provides reinforcement to the body bumpers, so they should not crack when hitting a rock. As time and money allows, I will replace the plastic driveline and suspension parts with metal. Now I need to find a decent place to crawl here in KC.

Welcome. I too have a Wrangler that no longer should be used as a daily driver and came looking for a Comanche to drive every day.... You can see how that worked by looking at my build. I am still driving my rubi. Rust may, or may not be a concern to you. But, if you want a rust free truck you will need to be picky. The truck may still be solid if the body is rusted, but check the uni-body. I personally wanted a 4.0 with the AW4 automatic since both are undeniably solid units. Plus parts for these are easy to come by.

I have a passenger tail light lens in great shape. It is separated from the housing, which I also have. The housing has a bit of deformation along the bottom edge. If you want just the lens, you can have it for $15 shipped.

Just throwing out a random idea. Is there any way you could adapt the NSS and associated harness to your 5spd harness? If so, would that even accomplish what you are after? A few years ago I remember reading about some electronic doo-hicky you could add to the existing harness that would allow you to bump up the idle on the +03 TJs. There was quite abit of discussion about it on rubicon owners forum. I do not remember what it was called, but seems if you could adapt the system to your XJ you could simply use the Ext Idle switch as the trigger.

A little update. Image Not Found Image Not Found Still have some details to finish up on the floor pan and get it all buttoned together.

What I have done in the past is this: 1. Obtain insurance on new rig. 2. Get title signed (No notary needed in KS) 3. Bill of sale signed 4. Keep the PO's plates/registration on the rig. Also include a promise that you will return the plates/registration to the PO within 1-2 days on the bill of sale. I did sell my Miata to another KS person who did not want the tags left on for road transport. They indicated the signed title would be enough if questioned. Also, here in KS you can get a 1 day temporary registration. It is just a piece of paper. You do need the title to get it though. I did this with the MJ to drive it to town for VIN inspection (purchased out of state).

Wal-Mart closes? :dunno:

Related question: I found the window sticker in my 99 XJ donor. It indicates the rig has keyless entry, however all I have is one key for the jeep. I know by purchasing a 99+ fob the dealer will need to program the remote. (I can see it now... Yes, I want you to program this 99 XJ remote to work in this MJ) What I don't know is where the receiver is in the XJ. It does not a have the full console, but does have some light assembly up there. Is this where the receiver is?

Wiring help? Anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
87Warrior replied to mooredonald25's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I am of no use to help with your Renix wiring issues. However, I have used this place: www.alldatadiy.com To find wiring diagrams for my 92. Pretty accurate and easy to use. -
I have a pair from a 99 XJ. More tan colored with lights and mirrors (I think). Can be yours for the cost of shipping from KS.

Wow! That trophy truck stuff is cool. I like the direction you're headed with this Rob. But man, I would get so turned around trying to race around a track like that.
