Thanks guys :D I hope to get the truck to the body shop before my September wedding. That means the entire dash assembly needs to be fitted, installed, then removed along with some of the firewall sheet metal from the XJ. I am trying to minimize the number of holes being punched through a good paint job, hopefully reducing the possibility of rust.

This is my philosophy regarding price matching. Buy from the company without all of the annoying price match bull. I have never found myself in a situation where I needed to force a the 'other company' to price match in order to get the product.

Free advice is worth what you pay for it... and sometimes it is worth every penny. You say they have a donor. For what? My guess is the junk yard, unfortunately. Yo boy? That fellow sounds like somebody who would be driving a civic with a fart can on it, a ricer if you will, even though he was in a XJ. -
Sad to be disappointed in a localized company. Not surprised from the numerous reviews I have read about them. I did enjoy the professionalism in your messages. Typically these threads are full of caps text and angry words.

Wow that is clean!

Can you better describe the tapping? How does it sound? When does it occur? Does it change frequency with rpm? It sounds like it could be something inside the bell housing or something.

35s and 5.13s on my TJ yeilds 12mpg hwy and 15mpg city. MJ was a steady 19 combined.

Growing up my father worked for the local bank that had an 86 v6 4x4 MJ they used for repo's. That little truck even pulled a full sized blazer sitting on a car trailer from central TX to central KS. I always thought that white Jeep truck with orange graphics was the coolest thing. Fast forward several years, I was in my final year of grad school and knew I would need a vehicle better on gas than my TJ. Wound up with a Miata for a few months until I realized that was a mistake. That was in the fall. I then remembered that cool Jeep truck the bank used to own (it is currently owned by a bank employee) and started my research. Sure enough the MJ shared much of its heart with the XJ, which I was real familiar with. I searched all winter for a truck but only found rusted out piles. (in hindsight, those would have worked great for me). Then in my search I found a 'rust free' 92 with 185k on the factory drive train. Great! Drove the 5 hours to check it out. Couldn't drive it home as the owner did not have it registered or have a title in hand (carfax said the state of Mo received a title transfer 3 days prior). Plus it was shooting power steering fluid everywhere. Exchanged cash (way to much), a few signed documents, and got a uhaul to pull it home. Received the title, did some work to it, drove it to a successful interview, and now it is torn down to the shell (see my build). To top it off, for graduation my folks decided to cover the cost of rust repair and paint... I am now on the verge of taking advantage of that very generous gift. I love my truck.

Welcome to the madness!

I took a look at mine yesterday, but could not remove because I forgot the torx bits. It looks like the electric door lock actuator is a separate assembly attached to the latch mechanism via linkage. I think what I have will work for you, but I want to make sure its in good working condition. I will be back with the donor this Friday night.

 I was thinking about getting the letter stickers for my front header... Looks like I will be contacting jeepsticker again.

This weekend was fairly busy. After replacing two unit bearings on the TJ I removed the MJs doors. Lets just say, 200K miles of rust made this a chore. I wound up cutting off 6 of the bolt heads due to their rusted nature. I got the doors hung and continued to test fit more of the dash pieces Loose striker pin attachment. At this point they keep the doors shut as I do not want to finalize their location before I get the hinges repaired. Door stop bracket was busted, so I replaced it: Rough dash mounting: Still needs finalized and cleaned up - I still have one dash tab to be retrofitted, but need to get an extra tab welded to the body. Getting closer and closer to taking the truck to the body shop. I want to get most of the dash fitted before it goes to the shop.

Someday I hope to get one for my truck. I could see such a thing being very useful as a tent and to keep gear dry on camping trips. http://www.softopper.com/ Looks like they make one for the SWB..... :headpop:

Shelbyluv fit a TJ tank in his MJ and used a TJ pump/sender. Jeepman fit a 15 gal dakota tank in his MJ and used a 97+ XJ pump/sender. Of course, these tanks were used with the 97+ XJ drivetrain swap. Perhaps the fuel pump/sender of all XJs are about the same and could be retrofitted to the dakota tank. I have only done some reading and have not studied the tanks personally.

Keep what you have and get a new ravine. Then get them balanced. -
Yeah. I think they are pretty cool. I would get one for my truck if they ever made one for it.

I have a busted 97+ header with good 'J e e p' letters. I almost put it in the trash today. Let me know if you want them so I can pull them tomorrow. Can be yours for the cost of packing/shipping.

Ha, I was stuck beside a red Maserati in a traffic jam the other day. I chuckled a little bit as he was going no faster than my TJ :ack: Bah, I have never been impressed with those exotic cars. 9 times out of 10 they are ugly (IMO) with a fancy name attached.

I'm new and have some questions!

I agree with Don. My TJ had a wobble I could not figure out and got worse with 35's and spacers. Wheel bearings were darn loose. I do not know anything about the 2wd font ends, but if they are like the 4wd, the hub and wheel bearings are a sealed unit commonly referred to as a unit bearing. Believe it or not, AutoZone sells Timken bearings in addition to their house brand. -
How much of the latch assembly do you need? Electronic lock assembly? I have one on my donor Jeep, but has always been a little 'funny' in getting the hatch open since the Jeep was rolled.

I can't speak for the badge, but I have had excellent luck using Morris 4x4 (jeep 4x4 center). I have had much better luck with them than jeepsareus as far as shipping time and customer service. Plus their website is much easier to use!

I half expected to see the 2011 Grand Cherokee pictured with some gadgets attached to it.

Now that, IS a full time job. But with all of these employed welders here...

THE REV is awesome! I am a Utility Forester for the local power company. That means I walk the power lines and plan/record what vegetation needs trimmed/removed. This requires me to talk with many home owners who think I am satin, so I also consider myself a customer care representative.

I bought the 4.5 super flex kit with 3.5 springs for my TJ 6 years ago. The springs and bumpstops are still on the Jeep. 1. Control arm bushings needed replaced every 3 months on the rear and every 6 months on the front due to cracking. Yes, they were installed right and torqued down with the Jeep on the ground. 2. Driver side brake line blew out on me. 3. Rear trackbar heim joint never fit tight, even with new parts. Was always loose. 4. Swaybar disconnects were a poor and noisey design. I got the kit with OME shocks which are still working as is the front trackbar and rear swaybar links. Their customer service was decent enough, but the control arm bushings broke the camels back for RE and me. As parts failed after 1 year, I replaced with JKS and have had NO issues with their products.
