Project "Eliminator"
jpdocdave replied to 89eliminator's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
shut up wade kidding  looks awesome with the bumper. -
not worthwile bud, i find all the 4.2 parts under the sun around here. i have the parts for 2 strokers right now. and whats a lightened crank? unless you just want street performance off the line, but the 12 counter weight crank is the more desirable stroker set up.

transmission question....May be a Duh!??
jpdocdave replied to javelinkid's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
it is not the same trans obviously because the 2x4 has the output for a rear driveshaft, and a 4x4 has an output for a tcase. having never done it i'm not 100% all you'd have to do is change the tailhousing between the two, someone here will be able to say for sure shortly. -
lets see some more pics :D i like the color.

oh man, so you had the driver, the boss, and then a wifey show up to, jeeze, all kinds of boss's around. :rotf: ya, it needs no help gettin over, the only thing anyone around it could accomplish is getting hurt, thats about it.
-
wow, you were busy, nice work. did you do just 2" up front to level it off? if so post up some more pics like from the side. i'm thinking about doing that, but after i decide not to tow with mine so it doesn't squat if i do. i like a level sitting truck, but can't have a squatter either.

looks like it has some decent bfg all terrains on it to. just my opinion, and that wasn't a very dangerous situation, but anytime you are uprighting a vehicle with another vehicle, no one else should be around it......just sayin. :dunno:

yep, rigs can also be confiscated and towed away. i've even heard stories of construction company's suing guys that came in and wheeled on their land for tons of money in damages. bottom line is illegal off roading is not good, and damages the image of our lifestyle, we try so hard to uphold, just don't do it.

Attempted to clean CPS. Now Comanche won't start
jpdocdave replied to driggity's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
from your description it sounds like the jeep is not cranking, the motor is not turning, just a clicking noise. a no crank condition is not symptomatic of a crank sensor, the engine will crank away and just not fire if the cps is bad. sounds like a connection on the battery, or bad starter. start with the cables since it seems like you know there's a problem there. -

i missed out, some reason i had sunday stuck in my head. i've been recovering from a stomach bug, missed work on friday. so how was the haul, lets hear some details. -
i know most people love them, but i don't use them. i had a goodrige ss line do the same thing to me on a steep down hill trail. lost brakes completely (another reason i love manual trans) i use rubber hoses, you can find them in a length that will work for whatever you need. i had the parts guy find me one for the rear of my xj after lift, wasn't hard, and half the cost off stainless. sure stainless hoses don't bulge and supposedly have a better pedal, but they also don't stretch, just break, rubber will stretch, which is important on a wheeler.

another mj saved. nice score man, looks like a strong runner.

44 is my first choice for simplicity, but seeing how the exploder was the mose common vehicle traded in on cash 4 clunkers, there's a ton of 8.8 axles all over. i'd even get picky on those, and find exactly the gears you want w/ limited slip if you don't plan on going nuts with it. 4.10 and limited slip is available in them.

new to the board wanten to work on my truck
jpdocdave replied to Frogger's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
:rotfl2: welcome and nice truck, you'll end up spending all your money on it sooner or later. -
you're right in the heart of the wisconsin group of crazy mj'ers, i'd waiger someone has a tow hitch they would sell, post up a wanted thread and i'm sure you'd find one. i got mine from pat, which was wade's at one time iirc. and if i were in your shoes, i'd be pleased as punch rolling down the hi way closer to 55 and keeping the rpms under 3 grand.
-
i agree on the gears, and i think you are fine with the atv and stuff, i was talking about beyond that.
-
also consider the extended heat and load other parts have to endure, especially the turdy 5 axle. i believe 85w140 is recomended in the diff when towing, thats what i put in my d44 in preperation.
-
my only suggestion is keep the rpm's up. the 4cyl trans's are not strong, and do not like to be bogged down. we've all seen ax5's go bad, running larger tires down the hi way definatly takes a toll on fifth gear, i'm sure towing will also, same goes for your 4spd. as far as towing another vehicle, definately not the 4 banger, and manual trans. i'm gonna try it with my big ton, 6 cy. w/ trans cooler, trans gauge, and trailer brakes. the manual says 5500 tow capacity w/ auto trans, not manual. i've heard somewhere the clutch can't take it, normally a manual is strong for towing, but not in our trucks. and i'm having second thoughts from just puting the trailer on it.
-
are you talking tow capacity, or payload? it ain't much either way.

http://coloradok5.com/axleguide.shtml is the 20 in the mj's different?
