Can Spell Comanche

Can Spell Comanche (2/11)

  1. yes i did, many people contacted me over it and i responded to everyone. only one did not come back... a lucky fella picked it up today. meanwhile, back to the 'ol thread: this mt mj had the big spring pack and some kind of load sensing brake system on it too. interesting... i almost feel bad parting it out because it is such an oddity..
  2. it seems finding info on this jewel is not too simple. as far as i can tell it: -was only on 86 comanches with the metric tonne (ton) package -has one piece axle shafts -has a limited slip case -has thicker axle tubes like on a full size jeep. -29 spline -ring gear 8.8+ ? (someone will have to help me here) i wanted to start an information thread on this mythical critter for those who want to know more about it. please add information for those to search on later. here are a few pix of mine. i figured i would snap a few as i left the comanche commuity (for now) ;) Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found
  3. looks like i am going to part this thing out... not enough time to do what i want to
  4. update: pulled the interior today and found a lake under the passenger side rug but the drivers side had a little rust which does not look too bad at all. drivers side = dry... some rust but not bad... passenger side = zero rust... lake sacajawea... where does the water come from? :dunno: when i rip the dash out i bet i find it
  5. this is fun... my comanche is awaiting attention but my tj has had a few different parts added that i will list for entertainment purposes... zj tie rod (replaced by currie) full size jeep steering gear xj high pinoin 30 explorer 8.8 rear axle volvo 250 a/c compressor buick air box/filter parts from every year tj aw-4 trans from an xj dodge dakota alternator theres more... just can't remember... :dunno:

    Just for Fun?

What do you guys do when you are not totally preoccupied by COMANCHES? :smart: me first? okay... well, i play with this or this spend a lot of time taking care of this and this..
  7. there are many things that can cause death wobble check the ball joints, control arms, unit bearings, lug nuts, tire balance, track bar and mounts, tie rod ends etc... they will gang up on you so replace all worn parts or you will just wind up chasing it and getting nowhere...
  8. anyone use the rok lock? sp? it uses a vernier cable to engage/disengage the collar. i have a similar type CAD axle on my dodge (dana 60) diesel that i put a vacuum switch on so i have 2 low when needed. great for low range 2wd.
  9. warn sent it with the hub kit when i put it on my tj a hundred years ago... i didnt need it for the tj and kept it for some reason..
  10. i have the plate/seal kit and a set of tj shafts i will put in mine.
  11. i like my dana 30s. free is a good price if you ask me and i rarely break them. mine as it is now: true track 4.56 warn shafts warn hub kit currie skids and joints armored. they are definitly not for everyone but have served me well on 33" tires for many years of wheeling difficult trails and easy ones too.
  12. cool site! but... on the vin page i couldnt find a listing for the 8th digit for my 86 mj mine shows "J" no biggie, i just wanted to point it out to see if anyone else had a weird vin#.
  13. jacked up the rear of the truck and counted the pinion to wheel ratio... its got 4.10's and a LSD! WOOT!
  14. well, didnt get to the interior... but.... its already got 4.10's and a LSD :clapping:
  15. I did, kinda. I just told him that a 3.4 swap would be a direct bolt in, and that the 4.0L could be done, but would need more modification than a '87-'92 4.0L swap. :dunno: Namely firewall massaging and odds/ends. But if you are up for it, its not too bad. ;) Rob L. naw, it wasnt rob... there was a fella on another board that poo-poo'd on my 4.0 ambitions. (i like the 3.4 too btw) thanks for the info and i will crack that rear end open soon enough and will shed light on whatever gears and if its got a limited slip or no.. thanks guys! this is proving to be very interesting for me from the get go!
