Yes, as a matter of fact I do know something about them. :brows: thanks....see why use a search with such helpful guys willing to share :rotf:

i used to work with a mechanic that left tools in customer's cars all the time. he'd pull a car out and park it, and 15 mins later he'd go up to the office sort of frantic asking if that car was still here. most of the time he forgot till the car was gone, customers would some times bring tools back. we used to joke that he had tool boxes rolling all over town.
-
They hold stuff, like, a regular bucket? so why do i want those?
-
so i did a search on bucket seats, and all i found was people bitching about people asking about bucket seats. anyone know anything about bucket seats? :pcwhack: :D
-
thanks man, ya carquest figured it out no problem, thats who we use at work mostly. the discount stores are just idiots.
-
i love builds, nice work, keep it coming.

Whats so bad about the Bench?
jpdocdave replied to Windowsrookie's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i was pretty excited that mine had the bench, my first pick up had a bench and it was cool. but i quickly decided it sucks and am going to buckets. i think a fat guy drove mine or something, i feel like i'm ever so slightly falling off the left. its not bad, but the buckets will be nicer. -
i hopped on here a little while ago to get some info on the mj i was lookin at, thanks to those that helped me out. i figured i'd re introduce myself, and hang out here for a while instead of the cherokee forum. long time jeeper here, and self proclaimed yj guru. i met a couple guys on here over the weekend and figured if everyone is as cool and helpful as them, this is will be a cool place. here's my mj. 90 4.0 4x4 d44 big ton. and i hauled 1900 lbs in it the other day no problem the po put a new gas tank in it, new alternator, master cylinder, front calipers pads and rotors, rear cylinders shoes and drums, new bumpers which might be for sale soon  . and some more parts i don't remember now i took the manifolds off to fix a cracked exhaust and decided to pull the head, machine shop calls to tell me it needs a valve job, so got that done, and replaced the water pump, t stat, motor mounts, and oxygen sensor. now it looks like this jeepcomj got me hooked up with a guage cluster, bucket seats are coming soon and soa rear 6.5 front this summer.
-
ya, that dipstick tube neve comes apart. its a pain.
-
perfect, thanks a lot.
-
You will need 6.5" for the front to match the SOA using those leaf springs. so there's no difference being a big ton truck? the reason i ask is everyone said 6.5 without it being a big ton, so 6.5 is still gonna make the big ton level? the truck doesn't really sit very hi, so maybe thats true, just makin sure.
-
thanks for illustrating, i really appreciate it. any input as to if i soa the rear end, with that extra leaf how tall the front needs to be to level it?
-
oohh, please explain. the thing is all stock, and its been owned by a now 80 yr old man since new. is this a proportioning valve for the brakes, or what? it has had some poorly engineered fixes though. he had new bumpers put on, and the bedsides and fenders painted, but not the tailgate and doors  mechanically sound, and many new parts though.
-
good, i love the aw4 trans, bullet proof. here's the pics of the rear end. i asked a bunch of questions to see if someone put the stickers and crap on the truck, or if it is the big ton. it has 5 leafs and a d44 rear end, what do you guys think? and thanks again for all the help http://www.winkflash.com/photo/imagew2. ... 432180&z=0 http://www.winkflash.com/photo/imagew2. ... 432316&z=0

thanks guys, does the rear change with the metric ton package? it has an extra leaf i believe, how much will that change the rear w/ spring over? 6 1/2 up front still be level? so sounds like i don't need to change the rear d shaft, what about the front? second question, which auto trans is in a 90 4.0, w/ a column shift. is it the aw4?
-
so i'm gonna pick up that big ton in a month or so. i got some questions about lifts. i've lifted countless xj's and wranglers. but not mj's. can i just spring over the rear? the d shaft is longer, so i'm sure you can go higher without as many vibe problems. do mj's need sye kits? how tall can you go without changing the d shaft? same for the front i guess. if i spring over the back, how much do i need to lift the front to make it level? thanks for the help.
-
great, thanks for the help. actually it does say big ton. i'll know if its a d44 when i see it, and now i know to look for the springs. i just wanted to make sure its not just a sticker. or even someone just swapped in a d44 and put a sticker on it. so what do you guys think of the big ton? is it a worthwhile platform? it sounds like it to me. just want some pros opinions. thanks again for the help.

Project "Eliminator"
jpdocdave replied to 89eliminator's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
that is one sweet truck. good job -
thanks, i was starting to think i didn't take a shower or something, not even a hi. :D i did a search, and didn't come up with much. ya the sticker says heavy ton 2,205 lbs. its in the rear window, all proud ya know. its a pioneer, long bed, so thats all right. just wonder if there's anyother give aways to make sure.
-
hey guys, long time jeeper here, yj wranglers and xj's, and i love the mj. i currently have 2 yj's and i'm on my 3rd xj. here's the question. i've been looking for one for quite a while. they are either all 2 wd or 6 grand. i might have found a candidate, 4.0 auto 4wd and its the heavy ton, or at least it has a sticker. i never knew about this option till i did some research. the truck is a few hours away, and i know the heavy ton will have a d44 rear axle, but i haven't been able to see it yet, so is there any other tip offs as to if this is actually a heavy ton, or just a sticker, what else can i look for? what else can you tell me about the heavy ton, all i can get is wikipedia crap. what can it really tow? :hmm: thanks guys.
