If your truck had AC original, and that plug goes to the AC pressure switch, the wire colors will be green, and green with black trace.

For those that have a Ford 8.8
dasbulliwagen replied to Codycobra84's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Uness its a Dana 44 from an XJ, I would go with the ford. Youll have to figure something out with the parking brake with the ford, but I hear its no big deal. -
The second one could also be the connector for the AC pressure switch, it is the same as the one for the power steering, just different colored wires. But I just realized, the AC one wasnt in my truck until I hooked up the unused flat 4 wire connector on the driver side wheel well next to the washer bottle. I brought that connector over from the donor truck, thats when I found the one for the power steering half burned up from sitting on the exhaust manifold. Same style connector though!

Same MJ new leak
dasbulliwagen replied to ricksjeepster's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If it can be welded and re tapped, then you will have to deal with the possibity that metal shavings have gotten into your oil galleys going to screw up who knows which bearing in your engine. I'm not sure that it would be possible to repair that properly with the engine in the truck and together. At least not to the point that I woudnt be worried that everything would be OK when its done. The redneck answer would be to use some JB weld and a little praying, not that Ive ever done anything like that!   -
I have an 86 Comanche X and it has the same setup, buckets and full console.

Couple O Suspension Questions
dasbulliwagen replied to smithe1811's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Unbolt your upper shock mount and then try lifting again to see if it makes any diffference. If not you need to be looking for where the suspension is binding. Though it does sound like your shocks are the limiting factor. If they are the problem, replacing them with ones of the proper length should also improve the ride, as when youre in rebound, the upward movent of the body won't be so limited and hit the full extension on the shocks. Try unbolting them and see what happens. -
Yes those are tranny cooler lines for an automatic trans only. Not sure if part of a heavy duty package or not. Most auto trans have them. They will not work for a BA-10/5 as they are not needed. If you are converting to manual, just disconnect them and put plugs over the rad ports so nothing can get in there.

Disconnected hose, what is it for?
dasbulliwagen replied to smithe1811's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thats the rear axle vent tube to allow for air contraction/ expansion. They usually have a cap on the end that floats there so that dirt water don't get into the axle. just tie it up better or leave it, its not hurting anything, and has nothing to do with your brakes. -
I noticed when swapping the rear axle this weekend that the bracket the prop valve rod connects to on the axle was different between my 87 SWB and the 86 LWB. They mounted in diferent spots on the axle diff cover bolts. My 87 mounts centered to the axle and the 86 had to either mount above or below the center of the axle, can't remember which, but the bolt spacing fro each of them is different. had to swap the original to the new axle. Ive never heard anyone mention this as long as Ive been on here. Just wondered if anyone else has seen the same thing, or if its just the difference between LB, and SB?

If you can catch your fingernail in the scratch, none of the polish products will work for you. The glass is too hard to do very much when it comes to polishing. The polish compounds are really only for micro scratches and haze, and usually you can't even get all of that out.I would just keep an eye out for a new/used window. I'm sure someone on here can help you out with that... no telling what a junkyard would want for just a glass, probly be cheaper to buy a whole door. Good luck!

You will also want to check the caliper slide pins, if they are frozen in place, when you tighten the caliper back on the caliper should slide over on the pins to allow the caliper to float and not be hard on one side against the rotor. If you are replacing the calipers then youll have to remove the slide pins anyways, make sure they are clean and well lubed with some brake lube or lithium grease. Good luck!

How are the yokohama geolanders working for you? I was thinking of getting some of them myself. -
Finnally got around to installing my 4:10 rear axle, bled the brakes, hooked everything up, tried to adjust the parking brake only to find I'm running out of adjustment and still don't have any. Looks like Ill have to swap the cables. I have yet to drive it because at this moment I'm recharging my AC to see if I can get it working any better. I was able to get my full original charge out of it so I don't think its leaking. Maybe I overcharged it, or it may need a new H block??? ..........have been messing with it right now....pressures arent right. I'm not sure whats going on with it...Il have to do some troubleshooting research....or maybe the HVAC housing is not closing off the heater core enough???? Time for a test drive!

My sister lives in Michigan, and I'm in North Carolina, so theres not much I can do with the situation, not that I would anyways, just not that kind of person. I doubt he will go anywhere. He has to know, at least just a little bit, that hes not going to have it any better anywhere else. They come to NC to visit every once in a while, and I bite my lip for the sake of keeping the peace. I just smile and nod when he tells me what he would really like to be able to do, knowing full well that he has neither the brains or the ability to do any of it, just hoping that he won't really try anything and take my sister down with him. The SOB actually seems to be a good father to their first kid, Peyton. I just worry about how many his stupid values and habits he will pick up. My mother keeps him quite a bit, so hopefully some of what she gave me will get into him too. We can only hope. Thanks for the support guys!

Just heard from my mother that my sisters husband recently told her that he is not happy in their relationship... this being after she found out she was pregnant with their second child! WTF??? This guy is a major tool. He has more wierd, annoying , stupid quirks than anyone I have ever met. I really don't know what my sister sees in him. He is one of those guys that only wants to sit and play video games or watch football....NOTHING ELSE!!! He doesnt mow their lawn like he should, or shovel the driveway, take out the trash, deal with their vehicles maintenance, handle issues with repairmen if they need one... he makes my stupid sister (bless her) do everything. He doesnt want to deal with any strange people. He will barely say two words to my mother! And only if he has to! And his eating habits... he will only eat fried chicken, bisquits/rolls, steaks and french fries... THATS IT! I mean THATS IT! Nothing else. And HE'S not happy??? Maybe he should move back in with his mommy, because it sure sounds like thats what he wants. He is a factory worker at a major auto parts supplier company whos laying people off left and right... has no formal eduction ( not that theres anything wrong with that), I mean he just won't do anything unless it means money or something that will make HIM happy. Self centered SOB! I wish someone would give him a reality check, but knowing the situation, I know that will never happen. Anyone else have any stupid brother/ sister in law stories? I just hope I'm not that guy to my wifes sister. I don't think I am, but you never know.

The following rule needs to be ammended: "1. Don't ask us what we're thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as Football or Hockey." This rule should be changed to add "Jeeps"

120 volt MIG would not be big enough, youll need a 240 volt MIG to do that job, and yes do practice first. If you the stick route, maybe find someone whos really experienced witha stick welder. Or you can call a welder to come to you. Did that once on VW bus I was working on... had to weld in a new trans mount. cost like 40 bucks. I can't see it costing much more to weld axle tubes. If you don't plan on heavy wheeling or hard abusive driving I would probably just leave them alone. Ford did mount some of them behind V8's so they should be half way decent. Good luck!
