  1. yes, I know it's not an 86. :D the pictures are pretty crappy, but I've seen far far worse shape MJs around here going for more so this might be a good start for a project. http://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/pts/2217741316.html
  2. looks stockish to me. our trucks are indeed trucks and will tend to sit a bit higher in the rear.
  3. later today I'm flying to GA to meet up with the family and then we're driving down to visit mickey mouse. I'll have internet at each location, but obviously less time on it. be prepared for an onslaught of photos of my nephew Zayne in disney world. we now return you to your regularly scheduled MJ addiction...
  4. sounds good to me. be aware that 4door XJ buckets don't lean forward like MJ buckets.
  5. there is such thing as a 2 wheel alignment and a 4 wheel alignment. but afaik that's completely independent of being 2wd or 4wd.
  6. upgraded the u-joints/shafts yet?
  7. opinions will vary wildly on lockers and daily driving. depends on the driver, the lockers used, the tires, the vehicle setup, and the weather encountered.
  8. power setting = normal comfort setting = why on earth does this even exist in the world? :dunno: It's right up there with the CAD and the Dana 35. not Jeep's finest moments.
  9. don't feel too bad. I've had more than 30 of the things go through my possession so I've got a bit more experience with the 8.8. :D
  10. also known as the sway bar mount. :D
  11. might want to upgrade your front U-joints/shafts along with that front locker.
  12. everything has to be changed to go HO. HO and Renix share a similar setup, but do not share any parts. Chrysler redesigned everything. What do you gain? not much. unless something is wrong with the truck you have. some of us have annoying corrosion issues in the harnesses. some bought severely neglected trucks. In those type of cases, starting from scratch is a promising prospect. But if you're up to the task, it's mostly bolt-in. there are some hiccups with the fact that XJs and MJs don't share much in the rear. But nothing that hasn't been solved already by others.
  13. what happened at hollister to mess up the slave??
  14. all of it. and I hope that's a 95 cherokee, not a wrangler or a grand. or you could be in for one heck of a project. :( or you could just swap in the block.
  15. no. all sorts of gear ratios were available. pre 95 were drums, 95 and later were disks. other than that they are pretty much the same. car-part.com may be of some help in finding them locally in junkyards
  16. more power = good :D but unless you've got a tremendous budget available for all this, that money would probably be better spent building up the truck to be able to handle that kind of power. You can't just drop in that much HP without some serious beef behind it. But you can seriously beef up your truck and still enjoy it with a regular 4.0. (and then drop in a stroker later on  )

    Another one

"rust free parts truck" = future project truck. :D
  18. interesting. the rule of thumb is that they should cancel each other out. :dunno: got any pictures of the setup?
  19. thought about a small lift?
  20. as long as the shell is in ok shape, why not just fab some new mounting points on them? the outer screw in my 90 have washer since the holes wallowed out too much for just screws. also the screws are bigger than stock. coated deck screws I think.
  21. wait a sec, why do you have a censor test for logging in? :hmm: that should be only for new users when they sign up. guess I gotta look into that... sigh...
  22. spacers only come so thick. and you pretty much need the max spacer out there to help the rear look like the front. Soooooo, I don't think you can do both poking them out and matching the rear to the front without aftermarket rims.
  23. maybe. from what I've read, it's practically a crap shoot as to whether a v8 can stay cool in an MJ/XJ under all conditions. A good quality rad, a powerful fan and a fan shroud will go a long way towards keeping everything within specs. but even then, some guys seem to always be chasing some overheating issues.
  24. and the Mona Lisa is just a picture of some lady. rare things are desirable things to those who are left wanting.
  25. that's a wall ornament if I've EVER seen one.
