  1. if you want a good penatrant use aero kroil, everyone calls it kroil. its in a orange can and claims to creep down to one millionth of an inch if used properly (apply a few times a day, a few days before, but just waiting 30 mins does a decent job) its what we use on all the industrial jobs i work at. beats the crap outta the pb blaster junk and wd40 he was joking. meaning that there's so little rust that even wd40 would work.
  2. it asks me to sign in to a google account (which i don't have)
  3. been a while since this thread was updated so you might need to call him up and see what's going on.
  4. sorta. not sure how much storage space and bandwidth that'll use though. :dunno: my guess is way more than I'm currently paying for, but I'll have to ask about it.
  5. if you're just looking to fix the rusted out wheel well they would work. someone needs to bug him more for a smaller patch panel that covers just the typical wheel well rust. :fs2:
  6. did I miss something? is the guy in the first link not selling them anymore?
  7. the MJ wheelwell opening is a bit wider than an XJ wheel well.
  8. Wash the underbody prior to garage storage. and especially get up in the bedside to wash that ledge that's right behind the rear fenders.
  9. Pete, I think you need to have your eyes checked. Correy, I think you need to have your sarcasm radar checked.
  10. if you're talking about the steel bushings in the lca, I just measured the stock ones and trimmed off a bit on each side. essentially you'll be cutting them flush with the rubber bushing. but if you want more accuracy than that, wait til someone chimes in or until you take out the old ones.
  11. oh the humanity!!! looks like we lost another one to the red cancer. :(
  12. I think of it more as missing a gear. or 2. :( I hated 3.07s with just 30" tires.
  13. pretty much any of the non-free forum softwares will be better than the free phpbb, but the big benefit for me is that our hosts are much more familiar with fusionbb. (and technically they do the grunt work of site maintenance since I'm practically a computer illiterate when it comes to code. :typing: nothing I do seems to work right.) fusion has a phpbb import feature so I'm told the threads and names should transfer over. settings and avatars maybe not so much. also they have some more modern (and hopefully more effective) capcha to keep spammers at bay.
  14. rebuilds aren't exactly cheap. I think you'd likely still be better off spending the extra bucks on a decent donor with a good drivetrain but a bad body. heck, some guys have purchased perfectly good XJs (97+s in particular) and then gutted them for their swap. All depends in what you want in the end.
  15. are you keeping the Renix injection? personally I'd keep everything as stock as possible, but with a hotter cam and a lot of porting work on the intake and exhaust, valve job etc. maybe look into the late model 4.0 intakes as they flow more air. also some 5.0 injectors would be thrown in :D
  16. I used a chop saw with a metal cutting blade, but a sawzall or angle grinder with the appropriate blades would work too. It's just a steel bushing and you need to trim off the ends so the arm is the same width as the stock MJ unit. heck, a hack saw would work if you want to work on those arm muscles. :D
  17. my d-35 blew up its gears while wearing 30" tires under a 2wd daily driver. individual results may vary.
  18. 3.55s will be better than 3.07s, but it'll still be a step backwards trying to push 33s around. how much road vs offroad will the truck see? how much freeway?
  19. not enough of a difference to matter. you're really going to be struggling with the "fun" aspect having that gearing and that much tire. It'll feel real sluggish from a start. Might even try to stall on you. but it should be ok in 4-low.
  20. which engine and trans?
  21. looking to upgrade to fusionbb forum software.
  22. any ol' method will do. just be sure not to melt the rubber and you'll be fine.
  23. I've been told that this method works ok: sounds plausible to me. use the power steering to help with the grunt work. :D though I guess it won't help as much on an axle that is separate from the truck. :(
  24. "disrespectful"? ha! our main page could be better designed by a troop of fingerless chimps. I like it. when we get to transfering to the new forum software (hopefully later this week), I'll be in touch.
  25. just need to trim the steel bushings a hair.
