  1. straight answers: -the stock unit isn't all that bad. -aftermarket intakes are not a panacea of performance. -don't do it because you might save money. do it because you think it's cool, or it looks better, or whatever. -individual results may vary.
  2. all that stuff should be the same. be prepared that used gears can be a real pain to set up right and in the end may never run quiet. gears don't like changes to their operating conditions. what was it that was wrong with the 4.10 axle? I didn't quite understand that part.
  3. brakeline length won't make any change to pressure. look into the dual booster swap.

    WJ control arm:

there is adjustability in the system. could just need a tweak. This isn't on the XJ that was in the accident is it?
  5. There's nothing on god's green earth that could make me go back to 3.07s. even 3.55s are well worth the effort. Don't regear though, just get a pair of 3.55 axles and spend a weekend swapping. late model or ABS front axles with the 297 U-joints would be icing on the cake. :D

does it rub on the other side?

    backspacing?
  8. if you've already got the hellcreek 4.5s, you can probably get away with a longer shackle for that extra bump.
  9. :waving:
  10. x3. anything jon benjamin has a voice in is gold. :D
  11. yes. (though they came out in late 89 :D )
  12. how 'bout now?
  13. x2 on the junkyard engine. you've got an HO so a late model block is even easier for you than us renix guys. also, perceived power differences could be anything from a failing fuel pump or sensor, to a clogging cat, to different tire sizes. just about anything can make/break max hp.
  14. you're not using a fram filter are ya. :D checked against a direct oil pressure reader? What's your compression like?
  15. we'd be "leasing" it through our host. If you sign up to the test forum, you can ask Billy directly. and that's the kind of capcha I want. :D I'm all for keeping phpbb if we can fix the problems and get some improvements. At least I know where some things are in the menus.
  16. yes. ax-15 is 23, peugeot is 21.
  17. if you want to use 4wd on the road, then the 242 is what you want. just don't forget to get the linkage and shifter assembly and gate for the 242.
  18. x2. getting the glass out without damage can be tough. like really tough. :(
  19. what's wrong with the current engine?
  20. 4 low on either t-case locks the front and rear driveshafts together and should only be used on loose/slippery stuff. yes, the 231 is technically stronger, but not by much and both t-cases are perfectly good to use in most little Jeeps.
  21. and whatever transpires... I WANT A NEW ANTI SPAMMER SIGN-UP PROGRAM. :typing: I'd wager that they are out there for phpbb. but I don't know how to make it happen. fusion will give me that, free experienced help, and it's only 10 bucks a month. but it does lack a chat feature (so far) and Rob doesn't like how it looks. (rob, did you try any different skins for it?)
  22. I appreciate his optimism. :D 3.0.7-PL1 is what we have. 3.08 is the newest version as far as I can tell. updating to 3.08 increases the errors and glitches exponentially. We tried and had to revert back to the saved copy after only a day. Even if we fix the current glitches first, the update caused new ones and I bet it still would. But, if you're thinking of starting fresh and attempting to upload each forum aspect individually, it IS possible. I'm told it would simply take a ton of work and we certainly can't afford to pay pros to do that. :(
  23. my 88 back in the day. 2wd with 30" BFGs and jeep alloys. no rubbing at all.
  24. you could do that. pucks would still be cheaper.
