what gears do you have? what size tires?

you could keep the metal intact, mount the flare up a bit higher, and then bumpstop it. be aware that slicing-n-dicing of the metal will bring on the red cancer in a hurry. :(

if you don't want to pop the cover, you can jack up one rear tire, put the truck in neutral, then rotate the tire around exactly twice while counting the number of times the driveshaft spins.

ha ha. :D I'm still up for it. :thumbsup: power steering is for wusses. :rotf: and I do have a couple of straight/rustfree bumpers if I can get them off the trucks.

sorta. Firefox lets you go forward or back a page and the text will still be there. Explorer does not. Used to be a huge deal on the Yahoo group since posts would get eaten up instantaneously and you couldn't simply go back and resend.

pre-95 ABS axles should have the beefier U-joints. all Cherokee axles after 95 will have the beefier U-joints. these are rules of thumb though. you gotta check for sure before buying.

you're the first I've heard of. my guess is that it's on your end, but we've got plenty of glitches in the software. :dunno:

or if you don't know that, what is the spline count of the input shaft on the t-case?

if the dana 30 was rust free, needed nothing, had the bigger u-joints and was the right gear ratio, I might be willing to shell out 250. but it'd better be perfect. car-part.com may be of help in your junkyard searchings. I'd start with 95+ XJs w/ABS and expand the search from there if that doesn't pan out.

an alignment is only the first step to avoiding the dreaded deathwobble. slop in the system (steering/suspension) is what allows it. gotta make sure everything is nice and tight. lifting a truck will cause any issue to be magnified. But it might be just fine. :thumbsup:

the higher the number (4.10 vs 3.55) the lower the gear ratio. and the lower the number, the higher the ratio. I know it sounds backwards, but that's how it is. I didn't do it. :D

in theory, yes. you just need to mix and match to get the innards right. can't give much more detail myself though. I don't know all of the possible variations.

your motor already sucks more air at WOT than any silly leaf blower can spit out. if it actually worked, we'd all be doing it.

kenbob is kidding (I hope). assuming there's nothing actually wrong with it (like a failing fuel pump or plugged injectors or bad sensor), the reason your truck feels slow is the gear ratio in the axles. a better gear ratio will give you much more kick in the pants than any basic engine mod you can do. I'm not exaggerating. and your truck will feel even worse with the bigger tires and no gear ratio change. been there, done that, learned my lesson.

gears, gears, gears. but they aren't cheap. the cheapest way to get lower gears is to find a cheap XJ or MJ with lower gears than you have now, buy the whole thing, swap the axles, then sell off the leftovers. don't ever waste your money improving a Dana 35.

Even though I could do it, I'm going to leave it to someone who has experience and will include the specific things that the non-experienced would miss. Things like pilot bushings, wiring for the TCU, driveshaft lengths, etc. my basic reasons for not stickying topics like that are thus: each situation is different and individual threads allows us to tailor a response to the person asking. plus a post outlying every single possible outcome and combination would be huge and we'd have to find someone to do it. also, and this is more of a philosophical reason, I want to encourage guys to just ask their questions. even if it's the same one time and again. it spawns interaction and conversation, which can be important for bringing new members into the ranks of regular posters.

Firefox has a built-in spellchecker. :D also Adblock Plus can be added, as well as my new favorite, No-Script. :banana:
