when the tires are pointed straight ahead, are they centered front-to-back in the wheel well?

probably an add-a-leaf in there. do all the leafs have the same shape ends? pictures would help.

I would do: -31" recapped mud terrains (or used MTs) -stock jeep rims (not necessarily the ones on my jeep, but Jeep rims none the less) -1.5 or 2" pucks up front -extended chevy shackle in the rear. -WJ lower control arms

any diesel fuel get in that tank? :rotfl2:

your shocks will work fine on 2" of lift.

been a while but I seem to remember there is more spline available than our pitman arms need.

the shackles we speak of drop a chevy truck 2" (they have a different suspension geometry than us). they are the same width and a bit longer than MJ shackles and so provide a small amount of lift. :thumbsup:

have you cleaned the throttle body out? specifically the IAC?

if it suddenly goes missing, I might know why... :D

how many of the vacuum lines have you replaced so far? is it 4wd? do those vacuum lines still exist?

the engine uses practically nothing to idle. it is not advised that you shut off your engine on downhills or at any time while on a road. you lose your power brakes and steering and in the event of an emergency situation, you will be at a severe disadvantage. the best mileage from the older jeeps comes from maintenance and good sensors and driving like my grandma.

jack up one rear tire. put the trans in neutral. rotate that tire around exactly twice while counting the number of times the driveshaft rotates. the driveshaft with spin 3 and a half times for 3.55, just over 4 times for 4.10, and 4 and a half times for 4.56.

your front axle is a Dana 30. :thumbsup: late 70s ford 250/350s had some good axles. also the early 2000s ford superdutys. in fact, almost any ford truck with a leaf sprung front can work. they have a drivers side diff and are high pinion.

you don't need a dana 44 front. just a better gear ratio to accommodate the bigger tires would be nice. the Dana 30 is a plenty strong axle if you upgrade the shafts/u-joints to the late model XJ/TJ parts. :thumbsup:

other brands of small truck have been used. don't forget to get a bench with headrests. :thumbsup:
