the 4banger could be backed by either the ax4 or ax5 but in the case of the metric ton package, I do believe only the ax5 was offered (to accommodate the 4,10 gears.)

the metric ton package was available with the 4banger and/or 2wd. chances are REAL GOOD that your AMC-20 (regardless of the engine/trans combo) has 4.10s. only way to know for sure is to check. either spin the axle shafts or pull the cover and count teeth.

for that kind of money you should be able to get a decent XJ. :yes:

did you replace the rear axle when you converted? if not, you likely have 3.55 gears and are burning a bit more gas while the little engine is struggling to push the bigger tires around. and if you didn't install the proper speedo gear in the t-case, your speedometer/odometer is off and throwing off your calculations. :thumbsup:

it would appear to me that superior ride quality is irrelevant in the case of the wrangler. :dunno: people seem to be buying them based on looks and the theoretical offroad prowess, regardless of them not having the great ride or numerous cupholders of a minivan. it would be neat if they had both IFS and solid axle versions, but there would have to be a monetary gain to be had before they would do it. how many more people would buy them? they already sell every one they can shove out the door. :yes: ya don't mess with the bread winner.

that's a ton of money for an empty bellhousing :eek: i converted my 90 using $35 worth of junkyard parts.
