  1. nice
  2. welcome to the addiction! :waving: once you get your hands on it, I would start with these: http://comancheclub.com/topic/48463-cruisers-mostly-renix-tips/
  3. I assume you added a bar underneath that seam? :D
  4. have you run through these yet? http://comancheclub.com/topic/48463-cruisers-mostly-renix-tips/
  5. great to hear! you should still run through the tips when you can.
  6. welcome to the club! :waving: since it is new to you, I would start with Cruiser's renix tips first: http://comancheclub.com/topic/48463-cruisers-mostly-renix-tips/ have you done a compression test yet?
  7. I wish I had a street queen version of my 88. something I could actually touch and drive every day. things that go offroad tend to fall down that slippery slope of unreliability and damage. :( offroading is hard on rigs.
  8. 89 was the crossover year for the switch from 21 to 23 splines
  9. I'd hate to jinx myself, but this weekend we might be getting a big ol' Husky brand toolbox for the shop  if so I'll clean up the barn and share a pic. :D

    &%#@)(&*^%

    that bites. :(
  11. the MJ does not have a "return" line. the second line is the emergency bypass line. if you ever have a front failure, the front combination valve (it looks like a prop valve, but it's not) will bypass the rear prop valve with full pressure through that second line. whether or not you keep that second line depends on if the needs of the aftermarket prop valve.
  12. need more details about the Jeeps involved, mostly what engines they have.
  13. what's your skill level? rebuilt anything yet?
  14. just to throw in some more non-scientific info, I've had over twenty 4.10 explorer 8.8s go through my hands over the years and less than half of them were also LSD.
  15. I can't argue against the 4.3 swap, as it is a fine motor, but you need to replace pretty much everything to make it work. the carb is the least of your worries. but if you've got the budget for it, go for it.
  16. what engine/transmission do you have? how stock is the truck?
  17. he is referring to the 8.8 under Explorers. the 8.8 was a popular axle under many fords, but the explorer one has the right bolt pattern and width is close (5/8" narrower per side than stock Jeep axles). 3.55 and 4.10 ratios are common and 95+ have disk brakes. also, the v6 and v8 explorer axles have different part numbers, but they are the same inside. car-part.com can help with finding junkyard axles.
  18. what are your plans for the truck?

    Semper Fi!

  20. just don't use so much that it squishes into the diff. that could get ugly.
  21. I was referring to the baby poo green XJ color called Citron Pearl found on a handful of 96-97 XJs. the one above might be rescue green, it was just the first I found.
  22. highbeams are controlled by a switch low down on the steering column. a rod runs between the hb switch and the multifunction switch. on my 88 the rod was dislodged.
  23. if it was me, I'd put the cover on as normal and see what happens sans bolt. being the highest bolt, it might not leak at all :D
  24. kinda looks like one of the rarer XJ colors:
  25. just not enough hairs on my chops to make one happen. I look more like a disheveled bum then anything else. :shake:
