  1. front axle and front shaft is the same MJ to XJ if they have the same drivetrains. the rear axle will need leaf perches burned into the proper location but will otherwise be the same. the rear XJ shaft will be a foot or so too short for an MJ. what gear ratio is in your MJ's current axles?

    F**k salt

you just need a winter beater that won't make you cry when it falls apart. because they all fall apart eventually.

    Face mask

    too many skeeters 'round here.
  4. you can easily drop a few more pounds and not worry about the bead. the tires should be flexing and grabbing, not bouncing. get yourself a gauge!
  5. stress?
  6. it's going to be a bumpy road. it took a bit to get my uncle dialed in, but he hasn't had an episode in many, many years now. I just wasn't expecting bumps due to "doctor shuffling".
  7. dammit.
  8. heavy duty springs, heavy duty shocks, heavy duty rear axle, steel wheels. if you're lucky it might have a small rear window sticker or even maybe the coveted emblem that designated it as a "Big Ton" or Metric Ton.
  9. what am I looking at? did it re-crack along a welded joint?
  10. no real surprises there. it's end of the season in a very tough year.
  11. car-part.com can help you find junkyard parts. 94ish+ AX-15s got the external slave bellhousing. the XJ will have 3.55 geared axles so that will be a bonus over the current 3.07. I would leave that wonderful patina alone.
  12. yeah, some people apparently need to learn the hard way that suspension is not for extraction
  13. what about replacing the stock X crossmember with a more traditional style (maybe both in front and behind) and then you can raise it up a few inches?
  14. I assume these are used units? the youngest ones are 22 years old.
  15. quite possible. but rarity alone (between 4 and 8 are thought to remain) doesn't mean giant value as one apparently came up for sale not long ago in much better shape for all of 9 grand obo. that's not nothing, but it's also not 100k.
  16. that was one of my thoughts. it'd be a prime candidate for outside decor bits.

    Long beds

bite your tongue! though if it wasn't for the diesel engine I would never have acquired the Libby.
  18. there are kits out there to make any seat a heated seat. be sure to start a build thread to document the adventure.

    Long beds

just get a longbed and make a trailer out of it. best of both worlds
  20. glad to hear everything seems ok. do make sure that everyone you know that got it gets their heart checked out later on.
  21. honestly, if it were mine I'd go resto-mod and restore the body back to stock, but then swap in the engine of my choice. she's got a LOT of nice exterior and interior classic goodness going for it, but I kinda doubt that the value of a restored rust bucket is going to be higher because you kept the least desirable engine Jeep ever used. make it nice and make it yours.
  22. I fixed a lot of weird issues with my 88's dash by running a 10 ga wire directly from the negative battery terminal to the dash metal. if you haven't yet, you should accomplish all of Cruiser's MJ tips. it's one of the first threads in teh link in my signature.
