  1. fell down a rabbit hole after searching "crazy pt cruiser". oh my... I, uh... applaud the creativity.
  2. yeah, they are a cool toy and handy tool all rolled into one
  3. yup, dirt cheap for a small trailer brought back to the same rental place. less so for a one-way or if you rent their biggest trailer and haul it around the country for 2 straight weeks.
  4. can't blame ya. I could see myself getting into old tractors too.
  5. not sure how to explain this, but generally speaking I run straps around the item (a couple times) and then out the open doors. hook them to the frame, and then close the door. the straps don't necessarily need to be super tight (otherwise the door might not close), but in the event of a fender bender I want to know the engine can't go anywhere. also, Uhaul rents trailers and trucks if you choose to abuse someone else's rig instead of your own.
  6. I spy an addition to the truck
  7. this is the middle plate. it's about an inch thick. the AX-5 and AX-15 do not swap with each other in any way, but do look similar so you'll need to make sure you know what you're buying.
  8. you'll be inventing a lot of stuff as you go, so I would start with becoming experienced with the care and maintenance of the truck as it stands, and then take a couple classes on welding and electrical systems. I look forward to your project I'll help however I can with the MJ side of the equation. but wiring in big electric motors and preventing lithium batteries from catching fire from overheating is a bit out of my wheelhouse.
  9. 97+ arms and whatever happened to be on sale that week. oh, and about 12" blades. maybe 11"? whatever an old wrangler uses. I found they work better for clearing mud and snow.
  10. the most common failure is the hose running into the Vacuum reservoir in the front bumper on the pass side. it's a black plastic ball or football. but it could be just about any vacuum line. how's the idle of the engine?
  11. chances are that's a vacuum leak in the system. the defrost is the default position of the diverter door.
  12. huh, it didn't even occur to me that if I tried a round image it would display as a round image. pay no attention to this old dinosaur and his microsoft paint view of the world.
  13. nothing stopping you. as you can see, I've successfully uploaded a pic for my post count group. so whatever we choose will likely be a square image.
  14. how much of the 4.0 are we talking? just the block? or all the wiring too?
  15. yeah, Jeeps don't like to sit.
  16. went on a short trip to pick up a bedliner and stopped by a 'yard that had a bed. the bed wasn't up to snuff for the price they wanted (had some weird rust on the bedrail), but I did drive away with these 2 items:
  17. moved this over to tech. all the usual "used car" things apply. does it drive right? does it idle right and not overheat? is there moisture (or worse) under the carpets? did they change the gears in the axles to accommodate those huge tires?
  18. the rule of thumb is that drop pitmans should only be used if you're also dropping the trackbar mount too. otherwise it screws up the angles and brings bump-steer into the equation. I know I've seen some sort of relocation brackets for the lower sway links, but can't think of the company at the moment because my google results are flooded with JK and JL relocation brackets.
  19. someone set an alarm! lord knows I'll probably forget once again.
