  1. even if I got a bigger engine, I'd still regear. 3.07 gears suck. My Dakota R/T had 3.92s and ~27" tall tires. damn I miss that truck.
  2. no, there aren't any vin numbers on the back half that we've been able to find yet. as to getting a new one, every state is different so you'll need to check with your DVM/SOS.
  3. used the half-a-Jeep to get some gravel this past weekend. in total it was 4 trips at 1000 pounds each.
  4. got some goodies off an '86 XJ at the junkyard and one of those things was a pair of beat up AMC mudflaps so I figured they should go on the '86 trailer. being from an XJ I had to figure out how exactly to attach them. close enough for the half-a-jeep
  5. can't win if you don't go.
  6. did you unplug it? the damage is usually inside the connector. more importantly, while you're there check for power.
  7. you're looking for this little release button (image shows a switch upside down). that will allow you to pull the handle out. then unscrew the silver bit remaining at the front with a big flathead screwdriver.
  8. interesting. did the gauge do the full sweep, e to f?
  9. might be time to pull the headlight switch and check its (and it's harness') condition.
  10. just ordered some stainless pipe plus new flex pipe sections and clamps. I'm going to have to slice out the rotted exhaust to gain access to the CPS anyway, so I figured it'd be good to have this on hand ready to go. on the advice of several other CRD owners I'll be deleting the muffler altogether and am curious as to what it sounds like. I'm told the turbo does a good job of keeping it from being obnoxious.
  11. the front corner lights are just marker lights. they don't blink. have you run through Cruiser's MJ tips yet? most are electrical in nature. the link to it is in the link in my signature.
  12. this image hurts my brain.
  13. um... it's important to strap things down. like, super important.
  14. we're all waiting (not so) patently for some action shots. love this build!
  15. I'm assuming fiberglass bodies exist for the '5s? on the other hand, how nice does a Jeep that old really need to be? clearly it shouldn't be falling apart, but that looks like "character rust" at this point. how are the body mounts looking?

    very clean!
  17. what can I say. nice MJs win awards.
  18. photos from the Florida Welcome Center on I75, one day ahead of the hurricane. I think there were more big electrical trucks than cars in the southbound lanes.

    Tool Talk

bought one of these little guys to try out. haven't dropped the driver yet so I can't comment on the durability, but I never want to live without it. just having both a stubby #2 phillips and a #25 torx on hand at all times is totally worth it when you live in a world with random deck screws holding your 2x4 contraptions together. it's even got a little magnet inside! https://www.ebay.com/itm/175275963715
  20. the icebreaker Comanche
  21. haven't heard a squeak about them.
  22. sure looks like it good eye!
  23. because powdercoating might actually prevent rust. they are just plain-jane painted. I'd wager that it's the modern Wranglers that can get a powder coated bumper.
