MJs were built in 85 as an 86 model. (just like you'll soon be able to buy some 2010 cars)

might be worth a shot. :thumbsup: This may be as simple as your fans aren't strong enough. But there's only one way to find out for sure. You need more cfms. It's just a 305, not a built-up 400. You should be able to get enough cooling from a 4.0 sized radiator (and you do when more air is traveling past). Also, make sure the hot air from inside the engine bay isn't recirculating to the front of the truck to get sucked back into the radiator. I remember the guys at extreme4x4 had that issue with a rear mounted rad on one of their projects.

What all will you be doing with the truck after lifting? what sort of budget do you have?

Mostly it's just a matter of what was standard equipment inside and the decals on the outside. :thumbsup: But it's not quite so cut and dry since you could easily special order pretty much whatever you wanted. my base model 86 came with the bigger engine, AC, and the metric ton package.

If I remember right, the Aerostars and crown vics that got the 8.8 had the proper flange adapter. Be sure it's an 8.8 though, and not the 7.5

The BA10 and AX15 are essentially the same length.
