car-part.com $200 is a decent price if it's the correct axle. Installing an axle isn't all that hard. :thumbsup:

rule of thumb: if a factory posi is still in functioning condition, it'll suffice for most wheeling situations for light rigs on smaller tires. add in big tires, heavy rigs or lifting a tire and the posi will allow differentiation (read: loss of traction) and even worse, will quickly wear out.

the carb won't need much pressure at all, so just about any inline electric fuel pump will work fine. :thumbsup:

don't lose your receipt to NAPA. :doh: the front doors to a NAPA store are like a time machine (in more ways than one if you live in a small town) that transports you back to an era before computers. DING DING DING right on the money with the tires(275 wide) and a think a 350 is just fine in that engine bay, Ls1s are pretty cool 8) Thought they looked familiar, I just bought a new set (same size and all) for my drag lites. Ive had good luck in the past w/ them, just don't expect too long out of them. Gotta love those t-5's too, 3rd gear is always 1st to check out. I don't understand the shying away from spending money on a cheap MJ. most of our MJs were cheap. some were dirt cheap. A couple lucky guys got theirs for free. :brows: Doesn't mean you shouldn't buy quality components to make it work great. Think of it as an investment that will likely outlive the truck and get transferred to the next Jeep. :thumbsup:

on-road structural integrity is usually more important. stress and force can be higher due to the higher speeds involved and no one else's life is in danger should your rear axle let go on a dirt hill. :thumbsup:

nothing matches the MJ spring pad location except another MJ. :thumbsup: oh, and the axles are identical between v6 and v8 explorers. only the outer brackets are different. If there are several choices in the yard, you can slap the best rotors and calipers you find on the axle with the right gears. :D
