  1. 95-96 XJ swap is PnP for the 91-92 models. For PnP on a Renix you have to use the 91+ brake switch and splice some wires. I think if you retain the Renix switch you must grind the brake rod flat to make contact, but I haven't done a Renix model swap.
  2. That's what the part is. The release handle + short cable.
  3. If he doesn't, try here: http://www.newdodgeparts.com/OEMParts/jeep-131/5/52000861.html
  4. Realize that. That's why the intake will not be from the cowl.
  5. Yeah, I agree. I've been looking at this and think it's a good concept. I like their inline filter and housing parts, and it's available, but I would do my own plumbing. Not from the cowl though.....
  6. Cooling problems?

  8. Plus it takes fewer cycles in New England since everything rusts there, including plastic. :D
  9. I admire anyone who can compete on a world class level in any sport, even obscure stuff I'm not particularly crazy about like table tennis, synchronized swimming, or archery. But for me the best all-around athlete was Bo. He excelled in baseball and football in both college and the pros (Heisman, MVP, Allstar, stolen base record, five consecutive home runs, etc.), had the 100 yd., 40 yd. dash and 100 m. hurdles records for a time, and lots more. The guy could do it all. Just wish he had taken up boxing too, then he would have been the first to beat Tyson. I like Bo though mainly because of his longevity and versatility. Jim Thorpe and Jesse Owens were the greatest in their eras, but all their records have been beaten. And all the records being set today will soon fall to the next generations.
  10. I'm happy for you. I guess.
  11. 1991 was the first year for the OBDI ignition system. 1990 was the last year of the Renix system. The underhood harness's are completely different. There is no provision for a knock sensor or any other Renix sensor on the 91 harness. If you use a 91 harness you will have to use OBDI sensors. Or you can put in the newer OBDI engine and use the 90 harness with the Renix sensors.
  12. 91 has no knock sensor, does have a 4-wire O2 (sensor). missalineous dodas?
  13. You do have an excellent MJ, no doubt about that. And the shop manager sounds like he has excellent PR-101 skills too.
  14. Did you adjust your rear brake shoes?
  15. Lots of them on Fleabay. http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_trkparms=65%253A10%257C39%253A1&rt=nc&_nkw=jeep%20cherokee%20xj%20heater%20control&_dmpt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245.l1581&_pgn=2
  16. Yep, sometimes you have to do that. You do the best edumacated prep you can, apply fire, then sink or swim. I can only remember one sink example, and it was a fire. A fuel related fire. In this case it'll either shift via the TCU or not. Hope it works for you.
  17. Two questions: 1) Approximately how far do the studs the nuts screw on to extend back from the rear of the control arm (a pic would help), and 2) What size tires do you have on? I noticed there were two part numbers for the clevis (adj. shoe) and I think it's because of the stud length.
  18. Well, if Cruiser did that and the wires are straight through w. no junctions or branch circuits, give it a smoke test.
  19. There are three marked pins, A, B, and C. Pin B is in the middle. Pin C is the input, pin B is the switched output, and pin A is for switch illumination. To make the switch illuminate when closed: If switching 12V through pins B and C, tie pin A to ground. If switching ground through pins B and C, tie pin B to 12V.
  20. Either someone with the 88 Renix electrical FSM will have trace them out (I'm sure someone does) on the wiring diagram, or you will have to ohm them out to the distant end. I would but do not have the Renix FSMs. There could be junctions inside the harness along the way too. If you can not verify with an FSM, take a chance and connect them and see what happens. Either the TCU will function or not. I don't think anything will smoke. If no workee, then dig in.
  21. Nice job. But this is one thing I'd never attempt because I'm afraid of it. :D One suggestion - when you reinstall your visor, use neoprene sealing washers between the visor and cab roof. No leaks, ever.
  22. Well of course not, but it can't hurt. It would prolong the bearing lifespan. I remember installing radios in the few remaining Marine M-151s back in the day and they had Zerk fittings on the rear axle tubes just for this purpose.
  23. Yes, but there are no inner seals in D44s except for the real old models like the early CJs. The axle bearings are lubed by the gear oil. Since your D35 has the inner and outer seals, here's a good tip you might can do before assembly to keep the bearings lubed easier. http://www.jeeptech.com/axle/zerk.html
  24. Haven't got them in yet - just ordered.
