Same part, identical and interchangeable. But different part numbers, and especially prices. Reference is ChryslerPartsDirect.com, OEM Mopar parts.
ZJ w. 4.0, 52005738, $77.96
XJ w. 4.0, 52006592, $152.10
Anyone know why? :dunno:
Nice Jacky. I don't suppose you guys do Jeep 2500 front end conversions on your MJs there? I assume there are many XJ platform 2500s there to pick from.
Couple of questions Brent:
In the below photo, how many teeth did it take to set the rotor from the right yellow mark to the left yellow mark? 1? 2?
In this photo have you tried a timing light and watched the balancer vs. crank pulley marks? They should be nice and steady and advance smoothly as you rev up the engine. If it's jumping all around, causes include worn distributor shaft bearings causing side-to-side play and/or timing chain wear/slop, both of which can cause rough idling.
Naw, that's natural Johnny. Just bought a new 2012 4DR JK for Mama, and have been doing some upgrades on it to make it not so boring even though it wears the JeeP logo. Swapped some 18" wheels on and it became an instant dog. Turned out the computer retains the tranny shift points from the old 16" wheels, and I had to have the dealer reflash the computer. Who needs that? It's okay now, but all the MJ needs when you regear and/or install larger meats is change out the speedo gear. The MJ is a comfortable pair of old slippers; the JK is tight pair of new shoes. With high heels.
AW4 transmission? If so it's probably the bushing in the tail piece extension.

I have to edit this because I remember why it wouldn't fit when I tried to mount a 31" spare years ago. It is because of the left side dual exhaust pipe - there was not enough clearance unless I wanted a toasty spare. I do have a 30" spare mounted and that's the largest I could get in there w/o touching the pipe. Figured it would get me home.
At rest = measurement between the upper and lower mounting points with the truck stopped and sitting on flat ground. The Bilstein part number is stamped on the body.
Perhaps. But I've seen guys buy billet aluminum pressure bottles for $100+ trying to make these systems reliable. I'm sure you have too. You can convert for that.
That's correct. The Overlander was kind of the civilian version of the AK Postal Jeep. Most went to Sweden and Australia. Used to see them a lot in Oz. Always liked 'em.
I can never understand why people stay with the antiquated closed cooling system and don't convert it unless you're a masocist. There's nothing good about it, endless pressure bottle and cap problems, can't burp the things, nothing buy one problem after another.
Hopefully someone has one of these in good shape - it's the piece that's supposed to come with the regulation JeeP rubber bed mat, like the one that did not come with mine. :( Image below robbed from Rob. :D
Ah well, all schools all go through those football cycles to the nadir then back out. It's rare here though when both UA and Auburn are in the pits together. Since both my daughters are Bama graduates and we have attended a lot of games in Tuscaloosa, it's difficult to be an Auburn fan when the Tide is having a bad year. But we suck it up. Mo betta than Florida, Georgia, and especially Tennessee winning the SEC. :D
Okay, thread hijack complete. Sorry.........
