1986 2.5l to 4.0 ho fuel pump quistions

The 96 and above injectors require approximately 10 psi more fuel pressure to operate correctly than the 95 and below injectors (~40 w. vacuum -50 psi w/o vacuum vs. 30-40 psi). The 95 and earlier in-tank fuel pumps are perfectly capable of providing this additional fuel pressure, but a 96 or above fuel pressure regulator or an adjustable regulator must be used with it. I use the Mopar 53030778 gray top 49psi injectors with a 91 pump in my stroker with a Hesco adjustable FP regulator. Works great. -

^^ This. I've had several HOs; they are all the same. The OBD1 ECU has communicate with and verify outputs sequentially with all the sensors needed for open loop operation then compare them to it's residual memory program before allowing a start. The Renix system takes even longer since it's "junction box" computer retains no memory and sensor verification has to be done from scratch. Blame it on the computers. :yes: -

Look in the DIY forum search index - it's in there. Personally, I'd get the conversion done then measure before cutting down the driveshaft.

For the 97 and up balancers like this you can either remove the oil slinger, or bring the balancer to a machine shop and get .020" milled off the inner snout. But it's good to replace the timing cover seal, so I'd remove the slinger and replace the cover seal. Yet I've read of many instances where these balancers were used on older engines with zero problems. I haven't installed mine yet, so I don't know. The aftermarket junk (Dorman, etc. ) requires the slinger (spacer).

Actually that's probably a true statement Pete. There are several subtle aerodynamic changes to the body and they removed a lot of weight to try and improve mileage. But what's with the exterior rear view mirrors? They look like barn doors hanging off the sides............

I picked up one of THESE from Ebay for a spare. They are new take-offs from 4.0 Jeep engines and look brand new. Genuine Mopar balancers that retail over $100.

I'm glad they stated this is the first clear look of the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL, otherwise I would never have known what it was. :yes: It will have a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel V6 engine available.

Great game, not a work of art, mostly sloppy, but exciting none-the-less. Happy Cleveland won, they sure waited for it and deserved it, but now we have to endure even more LaBone gushing. I guess he deserves it too.

As far as I can see, the steering geometry is AFU. It looks like that goofy drag link needs to drop down at least a couple of inches on the frame end. And the sway bar ends are nearly vertical when they should only be ~20 degrees above horizontal. Might be causing binding. Have you tried disconnecting the sway bar and driving in over a pot hole? -

Invest in set of regulation Factory Service Manuals like THESE. Without them you're flying blind. Every fix for nearly every problem you'll ever encounter will be in them, you just have to find it. And the first time you miss a trip to the shop because you did your own fix will more than pay for them. And the 91 and 92 models are almost identical, so either set will be fine. -

Your video looks like the plains up north of Edmonton, Alberta except for a few more trees. I went up there a few times to settle some wheat property my brother-in-law owned when he passed away a few years ago. Flat land maximus. Saw a few buffalo too.

:thumbsup: Thanks Hornbrod, this is going to be much easier than I thought :wrench: That's hole is where factory tranny temp gauges were installed on the Aisin A340 transmissions. The Jeep AW4 version never got tranny temp gauges, so it's just capped off. -
