3.8 Fords have head gasket problems due to inferior gaskets and bad design. They use torque-to-yield bolts that stretch, the gaskets don't last.I have a Thunderbird SC 3.8 that didnt get a chance to blow the head gaskets before I upgraded the gaskets, surfaced the block and heads and replaced the bolts with ARP head studs and nuts.Thats is a car you don't want to do twice. :fs1:

Got mine on Ebay too. The clips that come with them were useless so installed them with clear silicone, I will re silicone them if I need a new bulb. -
Interior turn signal lights come on when braking?
garmj replied to mknherhappy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Not all cars function that way some cars have independant systems and the hazards still function while braking. Not only can bad sockets and grounding cause that problem but so can installing the wrong bulb .Installing a single element bulb where a double element belongs (and visa-versa) will short the two circuits and back feed and cause the dash lites or turn sig lites to illuminate. 30 years in the car biz you see it all. -
Flush machines don't cause blown head gaskets, poor cooling system maintenance and bad design do. Poor cooling system maintenance promotes gasket deterioration thus failure the flush MAY have expedited the problem but probably not. If her car has the Quad 4 motor they are famous for blown head gaskets. Also corrosion and crud in the cooling system insulates the temp sensors keeping cooling fans from working properly. If it was full of coolant when it left the shop there is nothing to talk to them about.

I work with a guy I have known for 20 years and he is a Mason. He was a good man before he became one and now he is a Mason he still is. He is religous but not fanatically so, however he is into charity work.fellowship and truly loves people. It seems to help with dealing with a wife who hs health problems and a teenage daughter. I have never heard him refered to as a traveling man but he is an officer (?) in his chapter and a respected one.BTW don't hold it against him but he sells used cars for a living.

I tried the link and this is the response I got. Dear Garry: Thank you for contacting the Chrysler Customer Assistance Center regarding the 1990 Jeep Comanche. In response to your email regarding your request for the build sheet information, we would like to inform you that we do not show you as the current owner of this vehicle and therefore cannot provide the information. We hope you understand our position as this is a security measure we need to follow for our customers. If you are in fact the current owner, please reply to the link below letting us know that you are verifying ownership and would like the information to be updated in our system. We need the owner name, address and telephone number, and current odometer reading. Please also provide the date of purchase, the vehicle odometer reading at the time of sale, and either the name of the selling dealer or that it was a private owner transaction. How do they know who the current owner is and why do they make this info sound as if giving it out is a matter of national security? As far as I know there have been no truck bombings where a Comanche was used.

I am not a Dodge tech but I am ASE certified in A/C. The heater blend door on those trucks is controlled by an electic actuator, If the heater case has been apart for any reason (heater core or evaporator replacement) it will need to have its position recalibrated altho I don't have access to the manuals I am sure an internet search will find it.I ran into the same problem a few years ago after an evap job. The actuator is hard to get to as I remember its on the bottom of the evap case. Good Luck

I have a barely used Alternator from Advance Auto part# p7902-11 and according to my research it is rated @ 105 amps. If interested its for sale for $40.00 shipped ,been tested and still has stickers on it.It won't fit my 4 cyl MJ.

witch radiator for my 88???
garmj replied to dirtlord420's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I may be wrong but it looks to me that adding a aftermarket inline upper rad hose filler and rerouting a hose or two should get rid of that pesky pressurized coolant bottle. And use this.http://store.summitracing.com/partdetai ... toview=sku -
can't wait to see what the chrome mirrors that Jeepcomj is sending are going to look like. :headpop:

Build it as big as you can afford (or your wife will let you). If you later decide to quit working on cars and decide to have a bunch of kids you can turn it into bedrooms or a mother in law apt. My wife and I bought a SMALL house with a 1 stall garage, I call it 1 stall cause its about as wide as a horse. You can pull a car in but you have to crawl out a window to get out. Congrats

Depends on how bad you want A/C. You will have to pull the entire dash transfer the entire a/c heater box, some of the wiring, engine brackets, pulleys, compressor, condensor, hoses, and etc.Having a donor vehicle is a must.In Florida its a must up north I don't know. :dunno:

garmj replied to UNL1MTD's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just did this swap from a 4 door 90 xj to a 90 mj.Drilled the pedastals from the bench and installed them on the buckets,no big deal.Console will install easy just get the xj floor brackets, the floor already has dimples where these brackets go. Just transfer your shifter boot orbezel to the console and you are all set. Good Luck -

You wrote: "I considered a nice aftermarket one, bit for $150 shipped, it was hard to resist the Westin/Fey step bumper, especially since it won't be a trail rig." I tried to find and buy one of those bumpers 2 months ago on several online sites who said they had them in stock, took my money and couldnt produce a rear bumper. BEWARE, call before sending money talk to a real person, verify they have one and if they have a foriegn accent HANG UP. Good Luck Thanks to a generous club member I did obtain this used bumper at a really great price, alittle straightning and paint and..... -
I was thinking the same thing........... If only I could find a pair of good chrome manual remote mirrors to fit my truck at a good price, PM me. can do paypal.

Put them on today and with all the silver I think they look good, even tho its a bad pic.

Does anyone have or have heard of chrome outside door handles for Comanche/Cherokee? I bought a pair on ebay and they are identical to the orignal black ones but I have never seen or heard of them before.
-
It should be ILLEAGEL.
-
Is that from the guy on Ebay selling them ? Please let us know how the fit and installation goes. I may have to go that way myself cause my headliner board is gone and I don't know if I can adapt a shortened xj board to fit.
