  1. Small block Ford swaps are generally more forgiving than some others due to the Distributor in the front,so you can mount them more rearward and lower in the frame.Hell I put a 302 in a Pinto
  2. My MJ does an excellent job of holding my driveway in place. It spends more time apart than together but when together it does brush dump and Home Depot duty.
  3. My understanding that florida in that to run a salvage yard and to legally dispose of automobiles you have to have a dealers license. Unlesss you run a chop shop. :D Metal recyclers have to process all cars and turn in the titles to DMV.These laws were inacted to curb the rampant amount of car thefts, chop shops and illegal exportation of stolen cars.Floridas laws are some of the most strict in the U.S.Its so bad here I won't buy a parts car for any amount of money without a title, the remains are too hard to dispose of.
  4. Report him to Florida DMV, he can't even think about selling you the car without a title. If he does his license is s#!++.
  5. Actually they are painted silver on my truck.
  6. On the "B" pillar just behind the doors on each side are plastic trim pieces, under those are plastic flapper valves that let air out of the cab when you close the doors and keep water from entering.Just pop the exterior trim off and inspect those vents to make sure they are there and intact. When I got my MJ one was missing and water leaded into the truck creatind a rust problem on the floors.
  7. Maybe I didnt make myself clear all states have different regs, in Florida to be a LEGAL salvage yard you HAVE to have a MVI number(dealers license). One of my functions where I work is buying cars and paperwork involving out of states is totally different. I really hope he can save another MJ, however finding one in a salvage yard in Florida is a tough row to hoe.
  8. It depends on WHEN he got it and HOW he got it.If he got it and can prove he got it before the law changed no problem. If he got it after this his only legal option may be to turn it into scrap (Crush it). DMV makes the rules down here and they change every time you turn around. His best hope is the junkyard has an open title and is willing to jump thru all the hoops it takes to transfer it, unless you have a good relationship with the guy it probably won't happen. Remember you are dealing with a CAR DEALER.
  9. I see from the orignal post you are in Florida. Florida recently enacted a law saying that motor vehicles can't exchange hands without a proper title, bill of sale won't work. Hell you can't even junk a car without a title or certificate of destruction. Unless you cut it into very small pieces.
  10. I have been looking for one of those Pioneers since I saw the movie. But I can't seem to find one with the Halle Berry option. But the wife says if I find one I can't keep it. :fs1:
  11. Out of all the junkyard cars I have tried to buy in Florida I have only been able to buy one. :fs1: Only because I worked for a car dealer,in Florida salvage yards are licensed as auto dealers. That means they have to abide by all state regulations pertaining to the sale of a used car. THEY have to collect sales tax, transfer title, abide by federal buyers guide laws, emission equipment laws and etc. :headpop: When I bought this car the title was transferred to the dealer I worked for and we processed the paperwork as if we bought it at an auto auction. He can't legally hand you a title and take your money, its been that way in Florida for at least 35 years I know of. Good Luck BTW Florida no longer issues Salvage titles just Certificates Of Destruction if the truck has one of those its all over.
  12. COZY CABIN SPACE? My DD is a 2004 Dakota Quad Cab and its like driving a SUBURBAN campared to my MJ.But I like the fact this thing will make a U turn on a dime and doesnt burn much gas.
  13. 4x2 2.5 5 speed GREAT GAS MILEAGE. And you don't have to worry about getting into another car that looks like yours,(don't use a MJ as a getaway car you will be easy to find).

  18. Before 1995 every manufacturer had their own plugs,GM ,Ford Chrysler and all the foriegn manufactueres were different that was OBD1. After 1995 OBD2 standardized the diagnostic connectors and trouble codes. You will have to find the appropriate adapters and code lists. The good news is our trucks don't have many inputs going to the ECM so problems arent as hard to find as in later model vehicles.
  19. Black Lab all the way, the most loyal and smart dog I have ever had. I must admit she is a mutt she is part Chow but she is the best.
  20. I am in Tampa so I guess I am just north of the Head? :huh???: But if the government sends us some Viagra I might be south of the head. :???:
  21. Did you replace your cap with a locking cap? I have had to replace a lot of locking caps with regular ones to repair the problem, some don't seem to seal well. Word of advice DO NOT put gas in your car with the key on or with the car running it will set the same code.
  22. Keep in mind the 2.5 (and for that matter the 4.0) is famous for cracking the exhaust manifold. So don't be surprized. Good news is they sell them real cheap brand new on Ebay. Good Luck
  23. I have used that trick on large truck tires and riding lawnmower tires. A late friend showed me that years ago. You can use starting fluid, propane, butane or acetylene. It works. :clapping:
  24. I havent even reinstalled the hood to cowl seal And I have 0 leaks. Sealing the holes where all the wiring ,hoses ,steering column is more important that seal won't do you any good if you run thru a deep puddle.BTW I pressure washed the engine compartment after I sealed it still no leaks.
