  2. Rings and a valve job, is this a common fix? Any idea what something like this should cost? Sorry about all the questions, I'm ignorant of most of this. appreciate the input.
  3. Thank you, yes, I have the blow by, but excessive, already cleaned out the pvc lines etc. One mechanic gave up saying there is no compression to speak of, the vacuum is awful, so I took it into another shop with a well respected mechanic, and he had the same diagnosis. thanks for the input.

  5. I have a 1988 Comanche with a 4.0 242 I 6 motor. After several visits to two different auto repair shop, it has become very apparent that my motor is basically shot. My question that I'm hoping you all can answer for me is, what replacement motors will work for replacement without major changes? Can I only use the same make and year, or will newer years work? Sorry for my ignorance, this is a first for me. The truck is in too good of shape to just junk it, and I would like to put a different motor in. Also, any advice on where to find a replacement motor would be great. Thank you all for the help, Greatly appreciated.
  6. Does the CPS need to be changed often? How are is it to change?
  7. I need to replace the door on my 88 Comanche. Does anyone know what year range Cherokee doors will work for this replacement? Any helpful hints on how to change doors out? Thank you for your help
  8. We had freezing rain for two days, got my doors open, however the knobs won't pop back out. Had them warmed up enough to work during the day, but when the sun went down, the froze again. Should I spray them with WD40? Any ideas would be appreciated.

  10. The only thing about this program that makes it worth looking into for me is the fact that Chrysler will match the $4500.00 gov program. Plus the $1000.00 rebate, thats giving me $10,000 trade in value for a truck worth $1500.00. Believe me I'm not excited about the possibility of this trade, however, the frame on my truck is not good, floor boards need replaced, lots of bondo in it, but, its been a good forum for my youngest son and I to spend some quality time together working on it. Emotions aside, can't come up with a sensible reason not to, but emotions/attachments are huge...
  11. Never thought I would think of it, but, realistically, my Comanche is worth $1500.00 or so, basically going in to a Jeep dealer, I get $9000.00 trade value. Its hard not to atleast give it some thought, for me anyway. Prove my logic is wrong...........seriously

  14. Anyone know the bolt size used to hold the differential cover on a dana 30?
  15. Actually bought it from Quadratec, they sent me a replacement kit, unfortunately that kit also has the wrong brackets. They also promised to call me back Friday afternoon to let me know what will be done, but that call never was made either. I will be calling them right away Monday morning.
