Love the color too. But isn't it called Spinnaker Blue? -

I once had someone ask me to deliver a free item 100 miles away. I politely declined.

How do you to tell how hot the MJ is?
johnnyc replied to Paul Bruchal's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My Pioneer also had a dummy cluster and bucket seats. -
Just send him, and other violators, over to Afghanistan for a little vacation.

I have a good spare one in my parts bin. Free. -
The RE braces won't work unless you trim down the LCA mounts. I ran some Trailmaster drop brackets (identical to RE) with the RE braces on my XJ. Then I swapped the drop brackets over to my MJ without the braces. And never had any issues. Ran the Rubicon Trail, all over Moab, and local trails for five years with these brackets.

97+ swap fenders with older flairs??
johnnyc replied to krustyballer16's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have the older flares on newer fenders. I'll post a pic when I get home tonight. Most of the holes in the old brackets line up with the holes in the fenders. I think I just had to drill 1-2 extra holes. -
It's not hard if you know what you're doing. :) And since I don't, I pay people to do it. It requires special knowledge and tools. Figure a couple hundred for a new R&P, a hundred for a master rebuild kit, which will have all the necessary bearings and seals. And I have friends that help me with the labor for another hundred. If you have to take it to a shop, they'll probably charge you $300+.

MJ differential swap questions
johnnyc replied to big66440's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
But the lower shock mounts are on the spring plates. So if you're staying SUA, the shocks would mount up just the same as before. You could just cut the shock mounts off the 8.25. -
Money sent. Thanks Pete.

I use a ball joint press, basically a big c-clamp.

Stock with less than 50K miles? No one I know. -
Yeah, brand new made in China. I figure that AC Delco has their QC people over there, so I'm not concerned. But then again, I'm Asian, so what the hell do I care? :)

I just bought a new Delco starter from Amazon for $66.

Fake. I ran a set of Allied beadlocks for years til I just sold them. Real beadlocks typically have 30-32 bolts to ensure an airtight seal.

Cool collection of pictures. I made it twice in the second link. One was the first day I bought the truck bone stock. And the second was taken on the Rubicon Trail.

Replacing trans lines with an hoses
johnnyc replied to Dando's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm also doing this mod. I have the 14 mm AN fittings for the tranny. And a buddy gave me a tranny cooler with -6 fittings. I'm going to run braided hose straight to the cooler, bypassing the radiator. I just need to figure out how much hose I need to buy. So I guess this has nothing to do whatsoever with what you're asking. :) -
Hey, where in SoCal are you? On a recent 500+ mile trip, I got 18-19 MPG which included a lot of rush hour traffic. I'm on 31 inch tires with 3.55 gears. I know my speedo is off, so I used my GPS to measure the miles.

Yeah, I remember seeing Star Wars and Superman at the Chinese. Last summer, I played like a tourist and took the TMZ bus tour through Hollywood and Beverly Hills. It was fun. I'd also like to check out the Petersen Museum.

I looked at a bit differently back then. The Cold War was in high gear, Nam was gearing up, so the "Duck and Cover" drill was US-wide. SOP, no problem.I didn't worry about getting drafted, but wanted to control my own destiny. Instead of being drafted, or running away to Canada, I joined the Navy. Ended up on a diesel submarine and my first cruise was a run down south to Cuba during the Bay of Pigs crisis. Our boat evacuated a lot of US folks there, and I think to this day that operation was the beginning of the eventual downfall of the Russian Bear menace. Lots of political crap going on then and in retrospect seems ridiculous now, but you did what you had to do where I came from. I think Rob understands. Don, 1961 in the navy? You are a couple years older than me. I volunteered for the army, but got a medical discharge in 1969 before I could finish basic. Rob, what I was trying to say is that we have only today and we all live in today. the 1950's and 60's are good to look back on. JohnnyC, I was looking for the Chinese theater - think it is/was a couple of blocks away from Pantages. Didn't see the Capital Records building at Hollywood and Vine. It was not built till April 1956, but should have been there. Maybe a different corner? Looks like the car was going west-to-east, away from the Chinese Theater, which is several blocks west of the Pantages. And the Capital Records building is north of Hollywood/Vine, so it wouldn't be visible from that viewpoint. Last time I was at the Pantages was three years ago, when I saw a production of Phantom. What great old theaters are the Pantages and Chinese. Makes one really wax nostalgic. :)

Damn, I guess pedestrians didn't have the right-of-way back then. Some of the buildings are recognizable, especially the Pantages Theater near the end of the film.
