Did you think that Don's comment about the AutoZone spring stretcher was rude? I actually thought it was pretty funny. :) Don is one of the most helpful and knowledgeable guys here. There are some rude guys in this forum, but Don is definitely not one of them. ;)

Where did you find the bushings? I just got Moog bushings from Rockauto. Exactly the same as XJ bushings.
-
When I first saw the title of this thread, I thought it was you, Troy. :)

Thanks Don. The ones I have are the 4+1. I'm hoping these will not be too stiff for my shortbed. If they are, would removing just the overload leaf help?
-
Maybe he wasn't taking into account that the centering pin is not in the center of the leaf pack lengthwise. The rear part of the spring is five inches longer than the front part. I was just outside cleaning and painting a Metric Ton spring pack and pressing in new bushings. I have a question about the difference between a standard leaf pack and a Metric Ton leaf pack. Is the Metric Ton's overload spring the only difference? Don?

Hey Mark, sending you a PM with John's number. BTW, my buddy still wants that bed and I'd still like to get that slider from you. Just trying to figure out when I can get down there again.

Ha! Just checked and I never noticed that truck on there. Thanks Rob.

I buy from Rockauto often. I like their prices (even after shipping charges) and the choice of brands. Plus, if I order from warehouse A, I can have my stuff in 1-2 days. You can save on shipping costs by ordering stuff from the same warehouse, which can be tricky. You just have to play around with the site a little. For example, if you want Bendix rotors and Centric pads, they may ship from two different warehouses. But if you get Centric rotors and Centric pads, they'll likely ship from the same warehouse. But that's not always the case. You may have to get Bendix rotors and Raybestos pads. You have to put items into your shopping cart to see which warehouses they are shipping from. It would be nice if the site showed which warehouse items were shipping from without putting them into your shopping cart.

Mjotm - February, 2014 - Onlyinajeep726's '86 Custom

Congrats Shawn! -
That would be a bumper thumper.

For five brand new MTRs and Moab wheels, it probably cost the guy at least $1400. So $950 isn't bad. But see if he'll budge on the price a little.
-
What size and condition are the MTRs? Some sellers think the Moabs are like gold, asking for $100+ per wheel. With some patience and luck, I found a set of five for $150 in great condition with zero curb rash.

Where in the LA area are you? Planning to have another MJ Meet-and-Greet soon. -

You've got a problem, Troy. :) Hey, I never asked you if you got your dually fenders. -
Very nice looking truck. Love the stance.

97 Doors With Manual Windows
johnnyc replied to nitroxsteve's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My original interior color is gray. The new door panels are gray and black. Looks completely factory. The big plus of changing the doors for me is the larger one-piece windows. -
97 Doors With Manual Windows
johnnyc replied to nitroxsteve's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The original door panels will not fit the newer doors. When I was looking for manual regulators and door panels for my 97+ doors, there were two manual equipped XJs side-by-side in the junkyard. I grabbed one set and I called a friend and he got the other set. You just have to be patient and keep looking. -
Hey, thanks for asking earl*t. Not much has changed lately. I'm still planning to lower the truck, probably in February after KOH. I have all the parts sitting and ready to go. I sustained some damage to the bed in Moab in October. Since bodywork is not my strong suit, I picked up a clean bed from MJRemi. Just needs a little prep work. Going to get the truck painted soon. I know I've said that before, but my tax refund check is slated for a paint job. Wish I had a rollpan like yours, but I don't know anyone with such skills. :) I have a JCR DIY rear bumper in the shed waiting to be welded up. I hope to have a more positive update in the next month or two.

Quick Tip For The Cps (Might Get You Home In A Jamb)
johnnyc replied to yxmj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My Jeep tech friend told me years ago that when a CPS gets hot, there are wires inside that lose contact, and this causes the Jeep to stall out. He told me to squirt water in the CPS area or put some ice down there. This will get you out of a jam and I have seen it work. (Sorry for my lack of proper technical terminology) -
I may just have to go check it out. Thanks John. I've always had pretty good luck at that yard.
-
Made a trip down to San Diego to see MJRemi. Got a very nice bed with tailgate and taillights, pair of Metric Ton leaf springs, and a pair of coil springs.

It's just white primer, Don. Replacing the multi shades of gray primer. But the the plan is to get some real paint with my next tax refund.
