  1. In addition to the 4 bolts on the cowl, the wiper motor is bolted to a mounting plate that is part of the wiper linkage. There is a bracket mounted to the firewall that the wiper motor mounting plate attaches to with a 10mm bolt and has a fixed nut on the underside of the mounting plate. When taking the assembly out, slide the whole assembly to the passenger side and then rotate clockwise from the driver side. You should then be able to come up and out back towards the driver side. Logic says to reinstall reverse of how they came out but for me, putting them back in is easier by inserting towards the driver side first and then you should have enough clearance to get the passenger side in. All this can be done with both the firewall mounting bracket still in place and also the small plastic bracket that accepts one of the screws from the cowl cover. That said, you can probably save a lot of knuckle skin, cursing and head scratching if you remove both of those before trying to remove the wiper assembly. There are also plenty of vids on YouTube under "XJ wiper removal". Good luck!
  2. fyi, that is to allow air from the squirrel cage to blow back in to the blower motor to help keep it cool.
  3. Yeah, I'm a wheater fan primarily, saw the Weller Antique hiding behind the BT too! I'm in VA and it's a control state but they are actually getting a pretty decent selection of stuff. Unfortunately the super popular and allocated juice you can only get by lottery here. That said, we might be able to help each other out. Let me know something you are looking for and if it's not available in VA I have some connections in other locations. If I am correct you are in TX and I know there are some bottles there that we don't see the light of day on in VA. Feel free to PM me......... Oh, and the MJ is coming along great too! (bourbon cheers)
  4. Ahhh..........a brown water fan I see!! Nice group of bottles. Love the EHT Rye, love ALL of EHT's juice. Is that Willett a rye or a bourbon? I've got one of their 3yr ryes, not my fave.
  5. This is BleepinJeep's remnants from his Comanche crawler build...........
  6. What it really looks like........
  7. I have the factory window sticker for my truck, the Laredo package is on there, they were most definitely an option from '87 on. I can also tell you that I'm pretty sure the Laredo package did not automatically get you power windows. Surprisingly it was mostly trim items, not necessarily convenience items.
  8. Pete, I'm guessing this is only being developed for military use and Sgt. Hulka ain't worried about how sore your butt will be after driving one LOL!
  9. That may end up being the case, but as a government project and a pretty useful idea I'm sure they'll throw a helluva lot of money at designing and testing them to try to make them work AND be reliable. Would be pretty cool to see them go in to use.

  11. Thanks! My bad if I missed it posted before...........
  12. Have you put a price on these yet?
  13. Funny thing is, and I know your post was a reply to johnj and not a suggestion to fix my problem, but I thought about using one of these or a hole saw to put one in the proper place and then cover the other hole up. Hey, if I've got a $#!&ty part then why not complete the process and make a jack-leg $#!&ty repair to it LOL! Too bad I've already ordered a proper replacement.
  14. Yay! Another suck had..........me! And like the past posting, I've had it too long to return, bought it last fall.
  15. My blower motor resistor went bad a while ago and the blower motor had bad bearings in it so I finally got around to replacing them today. While my replacement blower motor has the hole for the vent tube that feeds air back in to the motor housing to help keep it cool, it's sitting at about 3 o'clock when it needs to be at 6 o'clock for the tube to go in to the hole where it collects the air. So the question is, how critical is it to have this setup? I.E. I'm tempted to just cover the hole with electrical tape instead of trying to fabbing up an extended tube of some sort. Thoughts?
  16. Wow.......I knew he was up there. Glad he went peacefully, super glad you got to see him recently. Jeep on!
  17. RIP Jim! Pete, how old was Jim? Was he ill or just his time?
  18. I believe that may be bleepinjeeps.....
  19. Absolutely outstanding! Do you know what kind of steps the shop took to paint the flares? I hope to get my truck painted by the end of the summer and although the shop I'm using is considered one of the best around here, they are very hesitant to paint the flares with any confidence they will hold paint/color for more than a couple of years. I'm sure they're just planting the seed to cover their @$$ but rubber get's painted all the time on bumpers etc. so it's confusing to me why they don't seem confident about a good result. Their reply is that since the factory flares are are injection molded black or whatever color they won't be able to come close to that.
  20. Yup, nothing like an early 80s Family Truckster that my family grew up with!
  21. RVTrader.com and SearchTempest.com are your friends...........just a few I came across https://inlandempire.craigslist.org/rvs/d/1999-four-wheel-camper-truck/6627035177.html https://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/rvs/d/truck-popup-camper/6626608154.html https://slo.craigslist.org/rvs/d/1980-something-four-wheel/6601508969.html
  22. Problem solved! Starter relay......... My random no-start turned in to not random and for the past week the truck would just go dead when the key was turned to start. So over the weekend I checked the grounds and all were tight. Some were dirty with grease etc but there was no play in the wires at all. Pulled the coil and cleaned the contacts on the coil and the clips on the ICM. Checked the connections on the starter since it was just replaced a few months ago, all good. Did some more research of posts on here and while there are a lot of no-start threads with similar symptoms, one in particular read identical to mine and it was his starter relay. Decided I was willing to try this for $35 bucks and sure enough........BAM, started right up! Incredibly relieved to have that search mission behind me.
  23. Oh they're everywhere on this truck!
  24. LOL, I was saying that in sarcastic disbelief. Makes me question less of the "splices" 'that seem to be in my wiring though, at least in the engine bay. Wow. Thanks though!
