  1. If you get any other gearing, you need to swap the front to match the rear. Luckily, XJs and MJs do have identical front suspension, so swapping a front axle (especially if it's in the same brake generation, so there's no bleeding), is entirely bolt-on.

Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. 3. You would probably have closer to 30 or 40 psi in them if you'd blown out the gasket between them. 120 is still in spec.
  4. 3.07s came behind the 4.0/5 speed combo. As stated above, XJ axles are the same, except for where the sping perches are welded on, and they have the shock mounts welded on. Shouldn't be too hard to find a 3.07 rear axle.
  5. There is no bolt-in axle other than another Comanche Axle.
  6. Ordinarily, I would recommend against using JB Weld. But for this application, it'll probably be fine. Even with the retaining clip broke, I'm somewhat surprised it managed to fall out.
  7. It's only held in place by riding on the bearing retainer, and the pivot ball. If the ball fell out, it has nothing to pivot on, and your clutch is going to essentially be useless. You'll need a new ball.
  8. You can buy replacement one-piece lug nuts at any parts store, or even wal mart. Bolt size is 1/2 x 20
  9. Young'ns :fs1:
  10. Isn't a major point of buggies to keep them light? I imagine a 4.0 weighs a bit much for the kind of power you would need.
  11. The GC D44s have an aluminum center section that makes it not very desirable.
  12. And even more careful when installing. Same goes for the temp sender.
  13. I'm confused, how could having a trac-lok possibly hurt fuel mileage?
  14. How much of a project are you looking for? I have one... but it needs quite a bit before it's really driveable.
  15. I think he pieced it together from different trucks. I'm not sure but I think the 10 slot grill was available up through 90.
  16. Good to know,I wasn't sure if the shafts interchanged. Yup, however, I have heard from several sources that the gear tooth pitch changed around 96 for some reason, so the older and newer shafts aren't swappable.
  17. Installing one over the other has no affect on difficulty. It's the same process and almost identical parts list for the swap. The ONLY reason a command trac(NP231) system would be easier, is availablity of the parts. The only difference between the 242 and 231 is that the 242 has a full time high range option. The command-trac 231 does have low range..
  18. 242s and 231s used the same input shafts. They use the same ratio reduction for low range. You can swap in long shaft 21 spline input from a 4 cyl's 231.
  19. What you want is Select-trac. The Quadra-trac is the Full Time that came in the grands, with the not-desirable NP 249 T-case. You're always in Full Time, no 2wd option, and the viscous couplings for the front like to stop working. Select-trac has an NP 242. It gives you 2H, 4H FT, 4H PT, N, 4LO. It also has a geared mechanism for the Full Time that's not prone to failure. You also get the 4 HI Part Time option, which is desirable over Full Time in some situations. 4x4 swaps are really easy and completely bolt in. Do a quick search, you should find plenty of threads with lists and details of what you need.
  20. No, C-clip and Non C-clip brakes (9 x 2.25 vs 10 x 1.75) are not interchangeable. Not even the backing plates will swap. Sorry, but you're SOL on that one. However, if you got ahold of an 8.25, those used the same brakes as the 9" D35. All XJ/MJ axles used the same U-joint.
  21. If you didn't shoot it, I wouldn't eat it. Could easily have died from some sort of disease.
  22. Well that was one of the most chauvinistic pieces of crap I've ever read.
  23. Jim suggested modifying the roof to fit the visor.
