91 Mj North Of Atl, Ga Needs To Be Saved
Alexia replied to dave92cherokee's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Stop showing me this stuff! I have plans for a street MJ and money... -
I have considered writing an application for the forums that would better organize the VIN registry information to make it easier to track the information.

It is not wired up yet so I can not really review the functionality yet. -
My '88 Mj Streetable Autocross / Road Racer Build
Alexia replied to yellaheep's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
While it would be really cool that oil pan is a problem. PseudoSport's build shows just how much trouble it was with a 2WD axle beam. Those look like some nice wide tires. :D -

It is a CIPA mirror. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00029WSX6/ref=pe_175190_21431760_M3T1_ST1_dp_1 I went with AEM F/IC 6 30-1913. -
Alexia's 1987 To 1997 Comanche

That is why I am single. All I worry about is buying the nephews the gifts my brother is not allowed to buy them per the insistence of the sister in law. Maybe only two kits that R&R has left? There was fifty left at Sprintex when I called. This is what my "TO DO" list looks like right now. This is what I have written done, but is certainly not a complete list. Install rest of exhaust(3") Weld up rear bumper Missing Transfer Case Nut 3/8" Paint oil pan scratches. 1,000 mile rear differential oil change(Uh, 1,800 miles I mean.) Seam Sealer by VIN tag in engine bay Drain and refill transfer case - Rattling on coasting - Break down current case and swap output shaft to newer case. Finish installing Novak shifter Rebuild front drive shaft Differential Breathers Horns Rotate Fuel Pump Assembly Grind Rear Flare Retainer Studs Off Flares Refresh Tail Lights Install New Battery Wiring Headliner Cover Rear Backer Board Test Install Burgundy Interior for dual tone look Recover Seats AC Charge Parking Brake Adjustment Hella Vision Plus H4 ECE conversion housings, Centric Premium Rotors, Centric Posi-Quiet Pads, and WJ Front Lower Control Arms This looks familiar. The axle is off to the side and back from finally being regeared to 4.56 along with new hubs installed. RE9905 braces for the RE9900 drop brackets. The manual specifies they do not work on the Comanche, but the general frame area is the same. Looks like an extra hole needs to be drilled for the forward crossmember bolt and possibly some of the lower control arm mount extra bracing trimmed. Rear view mirror with auto-dimming, compass, map lights, and temperature. Sound Deadener! I put this on the ceiling, INSIDE the B pillars, inside the doors, and along the back wall. Made a huge difference in overall rumble. Replacement weatherstripping for the A pillars. Not quite factory style, but they would work well. -
Sometimes changing out the old for the new is the best. I may have sold my first Cherokee, but I own a Comanche now.

2000 XJ parts manual lists M8x1.25 for the flange nut size. I really do not remember there being a difference when I was interchanging them between new and old.

88 To Full 99 Xj Swap Wiring Prolblem
Alexia replied to CTswampyankee's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The differences are simple enough that swapping some pins on the harnesses should work. I spent many hours drawing diagrams to make 1999 door harnesses work with my 1997 body harness. It was mostly the same. -
Hayduke's Operation Comanche Repower - 88 To 98 Swap

I set the entire HVAC box on my LJ's fender with the controls, hooked it into the vacuum system, and tested it that way. -
What are you plans for paint once you get it all assembled? It seems to be going together well!

88 To Full 99 Xj Swap Wiring Prolblem
Alexia replied to CTswampyankee's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
1999-2001 will work best. 1997 is entirely different while 1998 is a mixture of 1997 and sometimes 1999. -
4Wd Swap 91 Mj From 96 Xj Mail Truck
Alexia replied to ggcnash's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The front axle brackets will be mirrored from the left hand drive version. -
The numbers sound fine to me, but KBB is high in this case especially with the rotting frame. I had a potato chip sized rust chip chunk of frame fall off my 2004 after taking the belly pan off. I caught it early enough to reseal it without having to replace metal. Here are items they could easily do to increase the visible resale value. They could easily help with appearance by getting a stock front bumper off Craigslist. Tuff Stuff carpet cleaner and scrub brush.(Don't use the included plastic scrubber.) That will take out most if not all of the stains from the carpet and seats. If it does not get out a stain test Simple Green in a hidden spot for color fastness before applying to the more troublesome spots. Use a heat gun to help remove the fade from those faded flares. Missing wheel center cap? I bet there is one on the spare tire that could be swapped.

$258 per cushion. O_O An entire seat can be bought from Corbeau for that price.
-
Yep, I don't mind storing stuff for people to buy in the future. I understand that junk yards just want to scrap the parts. I also understand that people may not want to buy spare parts right now. There is an empty bedroom in the house that I just stack organized bins of parts in. :D

Assuming the parts are in good condition I grab: Tail Lights Drip Rail Covers Cab Vent Covers and Cab Vents under those Tail Gates and the hinge brackets on the bed Bench Seat Brackets Bucket Seat Brackets Factory Rear Bumpers Every time a Comanche shows up in the junk yard I grab those sets of parts. I have several bins full of them for the future.

Alexia's 1987 To 1997 Comanche

Hey, I am not making you spend any thing at all! :P The truck is on hiatus until January. The LJ is in the garage getting a minor engine overhaul that I should be finishing up this week. After that I have to save for a holiday trip to visit the parents. -
You are fine then. :D

See those two studs sticking out of the smaller bolts in the bottom of the Fel-Pro product picture? Those are locator pins for the newer style valve cover gasket. Those bolts go in holes #8 and #9. At worst you buy the newer style valve gasket if the replacement does not have the holes. Head bolt sticking up at hole #8. Can see in the back where the gasket slips over it at hole #9.

Hayduke's Operation Comanche Repower - 88 To 98 Swap

High five! The first drive is always the best. Did you check the blend door lever directly above the right side of the transmission tunnel? The little pin broke on mine and I replaced it with a bolt. -
My step washers were perfect for the 1999+ intake manifold.
