MontanaManche Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 Hey so I was looking into getting a rear slider window (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004ARJXUM/ref=crt_ewc_title_dp_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2VNERJJQ7ERIT) but I'm curious how far the slider opens, I'm looking for something I can use as a passthrough between a shell and the cab during the winter so I don't have to go out in the cold at 4 AM in the middle of the woods. Does anyone who has this window know if that's possible? I'm not a very large guy, about 5' 9" with a 32 inch inseam. Also I've seen the fitment seems hit or miss based on what I can find, is this just installation error or should I shy away.
eaglescout526 Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 Ehhhh I wouldnt try to fit my skinny butt through that window for kicks but if I was in a situation I would give it a shot for sure. It looks big enough for me to slide through and I am about the same build as you.
Pete M Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 with as tiny as the cab is, I'm wondering if that's even possible without injury.
Strokermjcomanche Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 I think you'd have to install a limo window to make that be possible.
MontanaManche Posted April 6, 2021 Author Posted April 6, 2021 Maybe if a bring a few tubs of Vaseline whenever I go camping I can make it work. I think I'm just gonna go for it, I could use a new rear window anyways.
Jesse J Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 now I want to go see if I can fit through my stock 3 piece slider. I am 5 10 and 125 pounds I could probably fit

ghetdjc320 Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 The double slider is probably about 50% bigger opening than the stock 3 pane. Airflow is really nice with everything opened up. I could fit through it and my picture is floating around in the pub section.

And I have a tiny waist (28, 32 sized pants). My truck is, go through it diagonally, have one side of your body at the top of the window, the other side in the bottom corner.

I got lucky and found a stick long enough to fish the keys from the ignition when I locked them in. My '86 K30 on the other hand.....hell I've been thru that rear window a whole bunch!
Pete M Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 if you want a true pass-through, ya gotta get creative there's a guy in Mexico that's installing a ford explorer sporttrac rear window (and the associated sheetmetal). pretty sure it rolls all the ways down in the Ford. he just didn't show that.

Pete M Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 normally I'd say a couple of these might do it, but I was young once and could eat an entire pizza and not gain an ounce.
