this one was harder to find on my own rigs since I've not really ever built an MJ for power or speed. :dunno: But I'll go with the axle gear upgrades. :L:  dang those 3.07s suuuuuuck.  :(  3.07 to 3.55 was my first experience what what a regear could do.  man did it put a smile on my face.  :D   I would have done 4.10s but I didn't know better yet.  Plus the dana 35 blew up and so I had just thrown a ton of money at a 44 with 3.55s so it was doubtful I would have had money for a gear change on top of that.

Not sure, I haven't got it on a dyno.

 

Even turning 37s It is significantly faster than stock, my 4.0l 5spd XJ feels pretty weak in comparison.

XJs tend to feel much slower than MJs even in stock form.  Id be interested to see Dyno numbers but they aren't cheap.

On bang for the buck, gears definitely are the best.

 

For just straight speed, I think adding cubic inches in the form of a stroker or a V8 probably adds the most actual get up and go (though it tends to be a lot of $$$ or time...or both)

4.0L with 4 hole injectors, Mean Lemons bored throttle body, Banks header, high flow cat and muffler.  Plus gotta have High Output electonics.  Let her breathe!
