91 Eliminator 83K miles refresh with NOS parts

Recommended Posts

Axles multiplying in shop and Detroit true tracks and gear swap stuff everywhere so time get busy setting up gears.

I’ve only got 115V welder so buddy pro welder stacked dimes.

For C braces, he heated up cast to 350 degrees then stitch welded, making sure lazer temp gun never went over 450.

Also cut tower off and installed Metalcloak bracket and bushing race.

I’ve got lots of smoothing welds before back to sandblast and then POR15 with matte black top coat.

Also installed axle tie down tabs on D44.

Due to brake lines on top of axle a strap around tube have chance squishing hard brake line.

Left room for sway bar brackets if I need after lifting.

Most all of my Jeeps have winches, some have front & rear winches.

Nowadays, I enjoy day 2 builds like had accessorized at dealership with Jeep Special Equipment.

This is a harder and time consuming build as these parts are 30 to 50 years old now.  Dealership accessories were most times way overpriced & aftermarket were most often better and less expensive, so Jeep SE didn’t sell.

On page 6 & 7 of this build circa 2020 I showed the Warn & Ramsey “above factory bumper” brush guard / winch mount.   I’ve been looking hard ever since, managing to find incomplete 84-96 narrow style and a badly wrecked & incomplete 97-01 style.  Have seen others on vehicles but due to rusting from inside out, have get from the West.

The Warn 97-01 style while not correct for MJ is my favorite 😍

97+ style is wider than 84-96 style which looks more balanced with the wide nose of XJ’s.  Especially since I don’t plan on running the headlight hoops.

Well ….
