WahooSteeler Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 Wow........gotta say, that finishes the wheels off just right IMO. Looks proper. I've always liked turbines, have one for my spare tire. I think I like the way these look better than stock.
MiamiMJ Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 Looks great. *Having flashbacks to the 40+ hours I spent sanding/polishing/painting my own. Not a quick project.
watchamakalit Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 Love the look of these. Guess I'll plan on some sanding and paint in the future. Sent from my LG-H871 using Tapatalk
NEO auto Posted March 2, 2019 Author Posted March 2, 2019 I spray painted the black plastic on the center-caps. They were starting to fade away. Does anyone know how to restore the chrome sections of the caps (In the center). They’re not in that bad of shape, but one is chipped and the others have some wear. Top is After, bottom is before All caps after a fresh coat of paint.
WahooSteeler Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 Try Eagle One Never Dull, available at any auto parts store and Wally World. Supposed to be really good on plastic chrome trim. Lots of vids on YouTube on polishing and clear-coating plastic chrome. From the look of those, I would say they just need a MILD polishing, they look really good already actually.
NEO auto Posted March 4, 2019 Author Posted March 4, 2019 I had to buy shorter lug nuts for the caps to fit on the rims. I also installed a factory-original sport bar with KC lights yesterday. The top picture is what it currently looks like. Bottom is when I bought it last year.
Proama Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 I just picked up a set for 100 bucks! My camanche is red do you all think if I painted them red in between it would be too much red?
PCO6 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Old thread but I'll add my experience with restoring Turbine wheels to it, not that I should take any credit for it as I had them restored for me. Mine were rough like many of the ones above. The wheel restoration shop that did them for me blasted them, painted them silver, machine the polished surfaces enough to get rid of the pits and powder coated them with clear. The cost was $125 CDN per wheel which is about $95 US. I've had MOAB wheels blasted and powder coated for $100 CDN per wheel, about $80 US, so I thought the added cost for machining the Turbines was pretty reasonable.

Tonynguy Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 has anyone been able to find replacement decals for the center caps? mine are all cracked and beat up

schardein Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 I took my 5 "worst condition" Turbines and had them powder coated. Wasn't sure I would like them, but I think they turned out great and I will probably use them as is.
The86manche Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 I qctually went theough my work to get some turbines that had been refurbed from keystone, the aftermarket manufacturer. They had 3 in stock qnd i took them. $150 a piece. I plan to clean up the one i have and paint between the spokes black.

Mslilly2u Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 Beautiful! Hope mine look as good! Nice job Neo!
Pete M Posted February 21, 2022 Posted February 21, 2022 talk to a local auto repair shop. the rim edge can be fixed and then they will bead-blast it clean and paint it.

It was only that I know a guy that did me a solid and sandblasted and powder coated them black for me. I'll be wrapping them with 31's and they look way better then anything I could have ever done. I went the easy route. got any pics of these mounted? I'm looking to do the same thing and these seem to be the only pictures of black turbine rims i can find on the internet.
