does anyone know if these style would work with vented corner windows as well? i have an 87 comanche that i just installed vented windows on and would like to keep the rain off the tops if i could
-
never mind, might be for right hand drive only i guess
-
would be appreciated!
-
don’t know if this was covered but could i swap out each individual gauge? teamcherokee.com has gauges for sale way cheaper than used whole clusters. I have a 87 4.0l automatic with the big fuel gauge and indicator lights
-
is it the L shaped ones for the front? i thought the mj just covered the main window and not the vent window
-
does anyone know if the long L shaped pieces that fit the full piece windows work with a vented window? says 84-01 cherokee but picture shows one with a full window. as in an xj after 96

you still have an extra set by any chance?

Jeep Comanche 2wd to 4x4 Swap and Lift Help
Tonynguy replied to Tonynguy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
the transmission, transfer case, transfer case linkage, front axle, and front driveshaft came out of the same donor and the t case was never separated from the transmission. all from an automatic 89’ cherokee 4.0l. the rear axle is the only wishy washy item i have and figuring out the rear driveshaft situation. All i know is it’s a chrysler 8.25 27 spline which i know isn’t the best, but i also read that the d-35’s were 27 spline too so figured a swap wouldn’t be too difficult. plus it’s trussed so definitely stronger than the d-35 regardless. i was just planning on taking the 2wd driveshaft to the shop to have them resize it after i figure out how to take measurements properly and get everything hooked up to do that. -

Jeep Comanche 2wd to 4x4 Swap and Lift Help

it should still bolt up though yeah? just a matter of figuring it all out? i thought i read somewhere on here that one of them was better than the other but i just nabbed them for the low from a 89 xj that was being parted out. also the front driveshaft won’t have to be lengthened? i have the stock one from the 89 cherokee. -

Jeep Comanche 2wd to 4x4 Swap and Lift Help
Tonynguy replied to Tonynguy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
are there size differences between the two? i wasn’t exactly sure which one i got with my donor parts. so a stock 4x4 longbed rear driveshaft should work if i lift it 4.5 inches and add the 8.25 in the rear? and if that were true then i would just need to resize my rear driveshaft to that of a 4x4 one? -

You mean shave an inch off the 8.25? couldn’t i just get my driveshaft resized to accommodate the longer pinion on the 8.25? Id have to resize anyways with the lift and 4x4 swap -
Jeep Comanche 2wd to 4x4 Swap and Lift Help

Would i be able to drive it to the shop after the swap to get it shortened? And i think i saw on another post the 8.25 is 1” stouter than the d-35. My only issue is having to give them an exact number i need, if id be able to bolt everything up and drive it to a shop nearby that’d be awesome so they can figure out the correct length i need vs me giving them a wrong number. Also was hoping the lift and me having to shorten would cancel out but don’t know how the 8.25 comes into play too -
Hello i have a 87’ 4.0l 2wd automatic longbed comanche and plan on doing a 4x4 swap and lift. It is currently running a d-35 in the rear. I have a donor d-30 and front drive shaft, aw4, and i believe the np231 with 2wd, 4 part time, 4 full time, N, and 4-lo (top to bottom). I also wanted to throw on a trussed donor 8.25 i have for the rear. I plan on running a rustys 4.5” spring pack lift and was wondering if i could get away with not having to mod my driveshaft. I know if I just did a 4x4 swap id have to shorten the rear driveshaft but if i lifted that much could i get away with keeping stock length and not using a sye kit or wedges, or a transmission drop kit. Any advice helps thanks a bunch!

Interior Switch &Cigarette lighter Install
Tonynguy replied to Tonynguy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
the delete panels i have, i just removed them lol! and awesome awesome, should those already be factory relayed up? could i wire into those when i install offroad lights? or should i just delete them if i don’t plan on running cargo lights or fog lights? where does that wiring end up? also for the cigarette lighter is there a harness behind the whole dash? or would i have to mock up all the wiring for that? -
Hey guys, i have an 87’ 2wd automatic longbed and was wondering if anyone had any luck cutting out these panels and running switches? the left panel (next to the head light knob) has two inserts that don’t seem to come out, but the right side switch cover comes out. Was planning on running carling styled rocker switches all around (the 5 pin ones). Also does anyone know the process of wiring up the oem cigarette lighter? i bought one off ebay as well as a switch panel for clock panel above that, since mine didn’t have a clock wired up anyways. Any info helps! I also noticed wires hidden behind the left fake me out switch panel, any idea on what those are for? I figured comanches didn’t have the rear defrost or window wipers so wondering what those wires are for as well!

Hello, i have a 1987 Jeep Comanche with a bench seat. was wondering if anyone used these replacements and if they worked well. My belts currently do not lock when i hit the brakes and they’re pretty worn, on top of all of that my driver buckle receiver is broken so i have to use the middle passenger buckle.

Whichever requires less fabrication, want to try to keep this out of shops as much as possible to keep pricing down. And so I should wait to get a lift kit and 4wd parts together? Versus lifting now and 4wd later or vice versa
-
Would I just use front axle, transfer case, transmission, and front driveshaft from a xj, and use the 8.25 or 8.8 in the rear? And would a 4wd lift kit bolt up to that? Debating on what to do first.
-
Also noticed I said axle instead of driveshaft earlier that’s why you were confused. Sorry I fixed it now!
-
Don’t you have to shorten the rear driveshaft for a 4wd conversion? That’s what I wanted to avoid, that’s why I was wondering what size lift would help me in order to do that. And it’s probably not the best, but I’ve seen someone run 33’s on a 35 on YouTube by a channel called the fast lane truck. I just wanted to know what lift will make it so I don’t have to cut or lengthen the driveshaft, and of the lifts are universal between 4wd and 2wd

Hello I have a 1987 2wd 4.0l automatic Jeep Comanche longbed and wanted to do a 4wd conversion/swap. I was wondering is there anyway to get a high enough lift in order to not have to cut my rear driveshaft? Or regardless I’d have to fab/modify it? Also are 2wd and 4wd lift kits the same? I have a dana 30 and 35 if that matters. Was hoping to run 33’s
