Jeep JL Scrambler

As an aside......my own editorial.........

For years, I would get home from work and sit at a computer and read.....read.......read, for hours, 3 to 4 hours per night. News, politics, current events.

It became impossible to discern BS from the truth.

You need to be aware: 90% of what is published, shown on TV, is designed to entertain the monkeys. That's right, you are nothing more than a pet that needs to be entertained and distracted.

You are being played, by everyone.

I was not joking in the China thread when I said I wish they would buy Jeep. China would, in fact, build better product, cheaper, more reliable, and they would build what we want, not what they think (we) the suckers will buy.

Jeep/Chrysler already sold out to the Germans and the French, what makes you think they won't (already have) sell out to the Chinese?

As to the J-truck, if they built one right, it would dominate the 1/2 ton/sport truck/4x4 sales for the next 10 years, but, they won't.

Being able to produce a vehicle and having all the behind the scenes stuff is different.   If China owned the company, they would own the technology rather than just use it for what it is.  Of course they could always reverse engineer things but that takes a ton of work.  It is far fetched that any technology in a Jeep could be a national security threat but if it is possible, the government won't take the chance.  Especially with the state of the world today.

It's what they do, and they do it better than anyone else in the world.

I suspect the US mil is 10-20 years advanced in tech than what we know about, other than that, there is nothing the US has that China does not.

Our gov is not on your side, they are not protecting you, not operating your you best interest.....but that's another matter all together which will not be discussed here.

I'm sure this is true but that doesn't change the ability of the US government to say its a National Security threat so that they could kill the sale of Chrysler to a country like China.  Even if it's not necessarily true, the government can easily manipulate the public in way to make us believe it.

Getting better. Put a real roof on it and I could start to think about maybe being interested.

What do you mean by "real roof"?

Is it a soft top? If it is, I would imagine they will offer a hardtop just like they do for all Wranglers.

Even so, why would it matter if it is a soft top or not so long as it doesn't leak? Is a solid roof that important for an effective light duty pickup?

I would probably prefer a hard top too, but even if it's not it wouldn't stop me from buying one.

Also, from what I have been reading we probably have a lot to thank AEV, makers of the Brute truck kits, for as far as the design of this truck. Apparently Jeep worked quite closely with them during development.

Are they making a 2-door?  That link is from back in June, before the spy shots and leaked computer info.  I havent seen any definitive 2-door info.

Nor have I. Nothing but rumors and computer renderings.

I'm not really that interested in this topic, but I will say this.  It's hard to tell when a car is going to become a sought after, timeless classic.  In my opinion, LJs have already achieved that status.  They probably have more in common with the Scrambler, longer wheelbase, low production, even though they were never offered with a true pickup bed.  Even if the prices are already inflated, I think a guy could come out alright if he found an original, low mileage one and stashed it in a garage for 20 years.

Found this outside a supper market in CA. It must be the kit but I'm not sure. OMG it was a sharp truck. If the new truck even comes close to this truck then they have got a block buster on their hands. This truck exuded a toughness that no other pickup in its class can even come close to. There is going to be a lot of wranglers traded in for a truck like this. Hope the pic came through.
