Bronze God – Wrangler J K U Sundancer Concept

There is definitely a lot of golden bronze on the Sundancer. It seems a bit much if you ask me.

^^  One of the comments from a reviewer. I agree. I'm not a fan of the "single color" paint scheme (body, bumpers, fenders, wheels, even windows in this case) on any square-bodied Jeep, especially Wranglers. They need some contrast. IMO it would look a whole lot nicer with matte black fenders. Any US soccer Mom carting her kids around in one of these would be the envy of her peers, and I think they would sell well here.

Too much Fiat, I'll pass...

Fiat?  :hmm:

Yeah, not a fan.  Jeep is more synonomous with performance than sophistication.  The automotive world needs more performance.  There's plenty of sophistication out there.  Who buys a JK/JKU and has to have heated leather, surround sound and a crumpet warmer???? sheesh.

Visually? I think it looks down right killer, super slick. REALLY like the tire/rim combo.    Practical? Not so much, its just to dang pretty for me to want to take it offroad.

Definitely not a fan of that interior, yack. :ack:

Y'all fail to see the big Jeep picture. Check out Incommando's post above. If models like this reach the US, they will sell. Big time.

Who? 85% of JK / JKU sales are to buyers who could care less about performance, i.e. off-road, because it doesn't happen with them. It's an image thing they buy. And the more creature comforts available, the more they will sell. This equals more overall corporate profit. With profit, maybe then all the mouth-watering Jeep concepts we see and want every year might become a reality because they can risk that gamble economically and take a chance and actually produce it. But performance Jeep buyers are the minority, and always will be.

Well stated and very true.

Fiat ... new owner of chrysler. And yeah ... my opinion on this is probably just best kept to myself ... not a fan is all I'll say.

Renault was better? :-) The MJ/XJ is a child of the Renault era. Renix = Renault-Bendix. The Daimler era was arguably a little better but still.... In the last 35 years Jeep has been owned by one European company or another for much of it. Compared to Renault even Fiat doesn't look too bad IMHO.

I still think there is room for all of it, like a Grand Chero Overland, as long as the models that will eventually wind up in our hands second or third hand continue as well.

Call me weird, but I kinda like the interior. It's a bit steampunk, don't you think?

I disagree with some of this.  The more they sell, the more profit; this is true.  However, the more they profit on mall crawlers, the more mall crawlers they will make.  There is no incentive to gamble on developing off road performance.   I agree there are some great Jeep concept vehicles, but board room bureaucrats will only approve the most profitable models: mall crawlers.

Maybe, maybe not. Unfortunately neither you nor I sit in their boardroom. But one thing is a certainty:  If they don't make big profits building and selling mallcrawlers,  there's no chance in hell cool concept vehicles like the Gladiator and Traildozer could ever become reality.

I'm about as far from the new jeep market as you can possibly get, so I really have no right to talk, but I don't necessarily hate the idea of the luxury JK. The JKs are far, far more luxurious than the TJs and YJs and yet they're some of the most capable stock Jeeps ever made. I don't necessarily think a tarted-up JK with tons of options would really change that - although I strongly doubt that the kind of people that would buy a "luxury" Wrangler would want to take it on the trails. With that said, most current Wrangler buyers don't do that anyway. For every trail modified Rubicon I see, I see at least 3-4 soccermobiles. People that buy current Jeeps with the intent to regularly take them wheeling are a small but very vocal minority.

Just googled the traildozer.

6.4 Hemi?? Are you kidding me?

Compare a Rubicon model to a Sport. That Rubi is a fancy machine inside and out. You cannot get stripped down Rubi or a Laredo WK2 with a diesel or Hemi... Fancy is in. The enthusiast market is tiny compared the whole market. That's why myself and I'm sure others have laughed at sales people showing off how cool some new 'feature' or what have you in a new Jeep or any vehicle.

These talked about above are a little over top. But it's been said, it's a image thing.

What about the Dragon Editon JK? Local dealer was trying to sell me one of those POSes when I was in the market. There was a few of those up here at the dealers. Never seen one on the road...
