19comanche86
Still moving forward, mostly been gathering parts. At this point I’m waiting for the harness and computer to come back from being converted to stand alone. Once that’s back I’ll drop everything in for a mock test fit, then pull it all out, merge the few wires I need from the jeep harness and raptor coat the engine bay. Installed the Holley front drive today. Looks pretty clean with the black brackets. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
19comanche86
Got the old girl out of the garage today and started prepping the engine bay for the raptor liner. Also took the chance to get some pics with the gladiator for the first time. As far as progress goes, still waiting for the LS1 harness, I have the whole fuel system, lift kit etc. making progress on that front as well. Pete M
exciting things are happening! if you could try to upload the pics directly to the CC. after the photobucket debacle a couple years back I just don't trust other sites to not screw us over and then we lose all the pics. 19comanche86
Degreased and pressure washed the engine bay yesterday. Gotta pull the old brake lines and fuel lines out, then scuff it and I’ll raptor line it next week. Buddy made me an adapter plate for the manual brake conversion. Picked up this master from Napa, my buddy used it on his jeep and he’s very happy with it. I’ll be doing all new brake lines and fittings etc once the bay is raptor lined .Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
boxyjeep
Why convert to manual brakes? That doesn't make much sense?
19comanche86
I think Novak sent me the wrong mounts or I’m doing something wrong. Can anyone that’s installed these shed some light on this? The mounts look different than the ones that are picture on the install sheet right off the bat. Several of the holes aren’t even close to lining up. Not even close to lining up with the holes for the drag link bracket. 89 MJ
I have not personally done the swap, but my guess would be that they are the correct mounts because the holes are close ish and how well it fits the "fame" rails. @Limeyjeeper, @70barracuda, and @thecodemonk could probably tell you if the mounts look right. 19comanche86
Yep I’m honestly not sure. They fit the frame rail pretty good. I can’t get the holes to line up any better than the pics I took. They mounts in the install instruction packet are definitely different. I contacted Novak. I’ll keep you guys posted Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
70barracuda
Mine were off just a tad but I was able to get all the bolts in. Had to use a hammer for some though. The biggest thing is NONE of the bolts can be tight when installing. Every one has to be loose. Also that one under the ear must go in first. It's a total b**** to tighten up. Gonna have to get the hammer out for sure. Yeaaaaa... so how the F did you tighten it? Can’t even get a wrench on it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Can’t even get a wrench on it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I have some open ended wrenches that arent as fat as new ones. Like old original craftsman. I used that and was only able to turn like 1/16 at a time. It has to be the first bolt tightened but you can follow the others as it goes down
Limeyjeeper
Wow mine were nothing like as bad as that. All my bolts went in fine. Except the one under the mount which went in first because it was so close. Very crappy piece of design IMHO.
19comanche86
Update. Looks like there is variance from early MJ/XJ to the 1987+Novak with some excellent customer service here. So it’s gonna be a 2 week setback but it’s ok Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
eaglescout526
I’d loan them my 84 XJ if they will make me factory clutch forks for the 84-86 years.

19comanche86
Still waiting on the motor mounts unfortunately. Has been a big delay. Found some gladiator Sport S wheels today on Craigslist brand new. $100 for all 4. Putting the 33” wild peaks off my gladiator on these wheels and they should look great on the Comanche. Adapters are on the way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
19comanche86
In the mean time I installed the full Clayton control arm kit, adjustable Clayton track bars and 2.5” Mopar lift with 1.5” teraflex spacer on the gladiator with 35” milestar Patagonia’s. Looks so awesome now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
19comanche86
Well...if you can believe it I still don’t have the motor mounts back from Novak, they have had them since 11/16. Went from great customer service to $#!&. They claim this week, again. Otherwise engine and trans is ready to go in.
