writing a paper on ComancheClub

that would depend on your criteria for active members. post count alone doesn't really do it, since there's always new people around and some jump right in while others only post a few times before leaving. also, how recent the last post is doesn't determine "active" in my mind, since again there are plenty of usernames with only a couple posts including new ones.

edit: not to mention you've only been here a little longer than i have, but have over 4 times as many posts. i'd still say i'm an active member, though, with only about 850 posts so far.

yall help me out,

I need a little bit on the demographics here, and was making a general guess of ACTIVE members, i would say 50 or so truly active members? got any guesses?

writing about comanche club as a discourse community for college.

What sort of demographics are you looking for? The number of "truly active" members is nothing more than a guess without data pulls from some defined time period and user profiles.

Additionally, one might describe the community as a dysfunctional family. :D

it may be a bit tedious to tabulate, but if you go to individual member pages, there's a posts per day number. I'm guessing that the number is derived using number of posts and the days since signing up. though we do have a lot of members that lurked for months or years before becoming more active.

I don't think it's the panacea you're looking for, but it can be another data point.

Does being a comanche.gif Comanche addict who's addicted to their nightly fix of comanche.gif Comanche Club  qualify them as an active user?

If so, count me in.

Addicted??? Naaaa, not me. I just need a little bump now and then. :chillin:

I'm still on CC as often as ever, but don't nearly post as much as I used to anymore. So despite having been a very active user, I'm more of a lurker nowadays.

Take this thread for example: I have seen it pop up numerous times over the past week. Today was the first time I actually read it.

Groups and a imagine forums as well, will eventually fade and die out. Would that happen in a few years, or a decade or longer? I have no clue. When I bought mu Suburban in 2001 I joined several Yahoo Suburban groups. One was very active with ~50 people making multiple posts a day including myself). It stayed like that for 3 or 4 years. Then over the span of 6 months it died out to about 1 post total per month, and those were usually new people either with a question or introducing themselves.

I'm a last minute kinda guy, so that paper has already been turned in, but thanks for all the thoughts.

it would be kinda cool to figure out how many active members we have, i like the idea of a sticky asking anyone who's registered and reading/posting to post in the thread over the course of a week.

that would lure the lurkers out to at least say hey, I'm checkin in!

there seem to be a lot fewer post ho's here than on some other forums I am on. This remains pretty on topic and relative, even the Pub.

So who do you guys think makes the best beef jerky? Also, how do I tell what gear ratio I have in the front end of my 2wd 88 Comanche?

I'm active,

AND dysfunctional  .

...and, it looks like, too late for you paper.

What grade did you get?

You can edit your title to something like "Hey! Active members reply to this thread",

if you were still interested in seeing how many member's here consider themselves 'active'.
