I was going to ask Pete about this, but as he is already funding the website out of his own pocket, I know that his answer would probably be something along the lines of "thanks for the nice gesture, but really...it's fine, etc."

So I figured I would do a poll. Each of us understands sometimes how hard it is to come up with a certain amount of money for a necessary repair sometimes. On another forum, they needed to upgrade and asked for donations through Paypal....it was a small site, something smaller than this one, but lots of people pitched in. $5, $10, $20, $40.....they raised everything they needed in about 6 hours. Same thing happened here in Alberta on a forum where one prominent member asked for donations for a trail repair.....$1400 in one day.

I bet if Pete would allow us, in a short time period we would be able to raise donate some cash to help with the running costs of the site. It doesn't have to be much....$5 from 20 members gets $100. The point is....it only costs us a very little amount, but helps Pete and the forum a LOT.

I'd pitch in some cash....would you?

I would go $20 a year.

If this were set up, I think it might be a good idea to specify the $$ would be to help the board as it exists now, and not so changes, or 'improvements' can be done.

I've seen a few boards & clubs change for the worse once real money is involved.

I like this place as-is, and would be more than willing to help, provided it stays the way it is.

I pay $30/yr for my local marine society i.e. saltwater/reef tank membership. Granted that is local with the perks involved with that, but I still use the website/forum the same. I would be willing to pitch in. I have definitly taken alot from this site.

Good points. I don't think it would take a lot to keep it going, especially for more than one person. :agree:

So, just an idea thats worth a look. I have made a temporary move over to another website with my next project. The not only have a "donation" button, but also a "store" which features all kinds of cool stuff like shirts, beanies, calenders, etc...kinda a cool idea for CC; you could even persue the keychain option...but I know these things cost money. Just saw this thread and figure I'd speak up :D

amen. as long as I'm here, there will never be any sort of required monthly fees or dues. That's why I keep the site costs as minimal as I can. I ain't running a business, I'm sharing a passion. Heck, if I had a job I'd be handing out decals for free. :D

but ya got me thinkin'... if all 3000 members each gave me like 25 cents, maybe I could have rescued that 92 MJ i saw in Georgia last month and made it the "official club truck". :D that would have been sweet.

fyi, that Imprezza site tried to set an ad cookie. :dunno: yet another thing you will NEVER see on this site. no ads. ever. and yes, I've had offers.

I think you created something for like-minded people. :)

The nice thing would be that you don't need it to be a required thing...I bet we'd be willing to fund things ourselves if you posted a paypal account for us to donate to.

As for a club truck...I was thinking of that myself today, too. :)

I'm not big on swag , but am more than willing to donate.

just curious... what are the costs of running this site? monetarily...not to mention the constant supervising responsibilities.

ide even pay a mandatory membership fee to keep the adds out!

No, no pop ups or anything goofy, moving or exciting...but I personally don't see anything wrong with a couple "sponsor" link logos stuffed in a corner, if they help the site...and even better, cc members with a discount on purchases :brows: You don't need to run a business or make profit off this, just put it back into making the site that much more bitchin and you could afford to have a healthy variety of stock of CC swag for the community to purchase (at cost+shipping even, so everyone benefits)...and even be able to give away those CC decals. Granted, I know the site works for most...thats fine. Like I said, I just wanted to give options because I know topics have come up in the past for comanche/CC related goodies to purchase. Oh, and about those cookies...there is a tray full of them, no chocolate chips left though...help yourself :D

2008 Subaru Impreza...the daily driver, owner of my paycheck, already 80k miles, and a mistake (taking offers.?.) Funny i feel the same way about 1995 GMC K2500 :fs1: . . .

The trouble is the offer's aren't matching what the loan balance is :wall:  The Comanche is now the daily driver  .

anywho, a donation's section would outstanding. . .

Same here, I've tossed Pete some extra money while I was trading parts and shwag... Wouldn't think twice about doing it again...

And as stated, I would have no problem with an ad or two for the better of the group, and might help with parts discounts or whatever... I know that 4WD hardware has a group plan, that offers discounts to members, and gives some proceeds to the group as a whole.
