Brake Light Switch Help -Pic Request
akamcbird replied to akamcbird's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yah I thought there was saposed to be one more piece... That one is gone and the bolt is tight inside the rod end... Time to stand on my head more... I think I've got two vynal washers on either side of the switch.. -
I recently swapped the booster and master from a 2000 wj into my '90 mj, now my lights don't work. It's possible I lost one of the nylon bushings but am unsure of what should be there. I did have intermittent issues with the switch mounting prior to the swap, remedied by messing with it... I've searched and not found anything usefull, a pic of the bushings would be my first step. Next easiest fix would be to swap a newer style pedal assembly so a side by side, or direction to a writeup would be appreciated. Any thaughts are welcomed. Thanks in advanced.

until recantly, i drove my 90 year round on 35" muds, up here that means i have no other option but to drift 9 months out of the year... didnt realy build it for that, but new to expect it would be.... steering and balljoints are replaced on the verry regular bassis....

spotted this thing a few times over the last year or so, finally saw it parked so i stopped for some good (well better than across a 4 lane intersection pic) pix.

he was probably confused as those pics are years old, i have saved copys from at latest '07. mite i add... alaska plates? :dunno:

i did both... $130 for the '86 w/ joints. $230 for the '90 w/ joints and new slip yolk. ...so the fatty went into my dd '90, and the other will be a spare and was made to fit either my '90 or '87. thanks to six states (same day service). thanks to cc driveshaft chart.

replacing the rear shaft in my '90, i have the option of retubing the original (currently twizzlered) or shorten one that came out of an '86 lwb 2.8l auto np207. the '90 has a smaller diamiter tube than the '86, is one better than the other?

new i saw it somewhere... thanks

How to cut MJ in half to make trailer out of bed?
akamcbird replied to AMCJeepMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
getto built mine... traded the v6 and trans for a quick weld job. the thing looks like superpoo but took som serious abuse... 1 ton o gravel short distances, but regular for 2 winters. pulled great too. that one was a 50 mi hwy run. edit: those eliminators are not the same truck, just twins. -
worth a phone call... most j/y don't carry much older than 10 years unless theres a good market. there are a few private lots full of jeeps, mostly out of town, usually contacts found on craigs. my parts come from mjs that are being crushed, you can get the whole rig free or pay for parts. the '86 i speek of was my first mj (50 mph tbone) forward of the seat was all a loss. saved part of the cab and some mj specific parts then turned the bed section into a trailer.

i kinda liked the red, kinda. when i got my '87 i was surprised to see a darker version. but it needed a few parts swapped out including the bench which made me feel 3' tall. with a few parts swapped from maroonish to red ('86), i was quite content. just needed a proper shifter knob, quik drive to seward for a rock that matches perfect ( you know what I'm talkn bout). some leftover stereo parts and all that is left is a full gauge set up, and a shifter boot and ill be set for the interior of that one. yes red most those parts came frommy '86 after it murdered a '94 honda.
-
i was running low on space and gave a bunch of parts to tyson, er..overdriven for a redo of his chopped xj. parts including the rear half of an '86 cab, rear interior bits, doors, rear flairs, etc. he was planing to ditch the fiberglass and go true cheromanche, but last i heard that mite not be happening. he may also still be over seas shootn bad guys. mite be worth a check, red int. parts.

akamcbird replied to tsa256's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
my '86 was the v6, auto, 4x4, 4.11 in a d35, was an xls -
what do you like? ive used the standard lead, integrated cables and clamp in, as well as solid brass or "golds". I'm using the top posts should i switch to the side terminals? between excessive corrosion with the lead and the brittle brass seems i replace yearly and ide like better a life span.
