HOLY THUNDERCHIEF MOTHERLOAD!!!!!!!!!!!

In a search for access to the Thunderchief concept, or any additional photos that might be floating around at Chrysler... after getting the runaround from a few places, I was wondering if I'd ever get through...and was ready to give up. But, I sent one more message, and this is what I got back:

Dear Mr. L( :D ),

Your e-mail was forwarded to me as I am responsible for the historic vehicle collection here at Chrysler.

While we have on occasion had people visit our warehouse, I am sure you can understand that we are pretty restrictive on visits to our collection and our photo policy. If possible, I would like to photograph the vehicle for you and provide you with the images. Are there certain details or angels that you are looking for?

The Jeep is currently blocked in by many vehicles. Due to the amount of other projects our guys are working on, I would like to wait until we have cause to clear a path for the Thunderchief before pulling it out to photograph it. I would expect that we should be able to get it shot before the end of the year. Does this timeframe work for you?

Best regards

Soooo....

I need all of you guys to give me a list of what you would like pictures of... I know the general stuff. I want to know if you want closer pics of this or that, or maybe a detailed shot of etc... Bottom line, if you want a pic of it, we need to compile a list of angles, positions, and objects y'all want. Also any details, I am sure he might know or can find out for us.

This is what I have so far:

Ask if you can post/share the pics... I think Pete saw the truck but it didn't sound like he was able take pics (or if he took pics, he can't post em)...

I asked for pics specifically for the purpose of the group, so sharing won't be an issue. I think the only reason Pete couldn't take pics of it, was that he wasn't there to see "it" specifically.

As for Darren and Correy...

It's buried pretty good. The cars are all parked together with only walking space between them. We had an escort showing us around the buildings and he kept a pretty close eye on us. Can't imagine why. :dunno: Rob is correct, we were only allowed to snap pics of the LSR MJ because it was the one we had clearance to see. Secrecy is there main anti-theft policy.

I'm guessing he's just going to walk back there, pull off the cover, snap some pics, then put the cover back on.

I'm so glad we've been able to make contact with someone who might actually do something. :D Tell him I'd be more than happy to drive back and assist.

Rob, this is awesome. I'll think about some serious angles that I would like to see and then get back with you within the week about it.

A few shots I know I would like are going to be of how the spare is held in the bed and the tonneau cover (if they will get into that much detail) and how they constructed that fiberglass thing on the back of the cab.

Also if they are willing to take a quick measurement it would be nice to know the outside length of the bed, from the front edge to the rear one (or the tail-light, some easy reference point...) and what the wheelbase measures out at? - For some reason the bed looks shorter than the SWB to me...? :dunno:

Thanks for letting us know - Brent

The ThunderChief was a 1987 Concept car.

that was eventually released as the ELIMINATOR right? so i can only assume it's very similar to the 91-2 eliminator models

The Eliminator existed before 91.

I'd like a picture of Tawny Kitaen spread eagled on the hood like she did on the Jag in the Whitesnake video. I'd settle for Jessica Simpson standing next to it in her Daisy Duke outfit, with ample cleavage hanging out please.

And its Wahoo for the win!

And the ZJ was in development before the Chryco takeover using the XJ as a platform for testing. That grill/header sure does look familiar....

I too, thought that it looked a ton like a ZJ in front... BUT, if you look closely, its all in the turn/headlights... The grill is the same, as are the headlights/turns... But the smoked lenses over the lights make it look like a ZJ combo... The ZJ's grill is straight, the TC's has the normal "bend". Also, the ZJ grill dipped into the bumper, the TC's doesn't.
