  1. Took the Comanche out today and discovered that I'm not getting any drive to the front wheels when I tried to get it up the gravel driveway. I suspect that it's the stupid vacuum disconnect, but I'm not sure. Would the green 4x4 light still come on if it were in the vacuum disconnect? I guess it could be the transfer case......but I've never broken one of those to know.
  2. Not that I know of. The slave was leaking badly, so I went ahead and had him replace both while the system was drained. There is some moisture on the firewall there it leaked coming off.
  3. A buddy of mine just put a new clutch, slave cylinder, and master cylinder in the manche for me. Now the tach isn't working. Is the sensor for the tach in the bellhousing? I would think it would be attached to the distributor......
  4. Oh, I knew that. I guess I should have phrased my question a little differently. I saw an aftermarket bumper somewhere with an integrated receiver that looked as if it could have possibly been designed by AMC. It was clean, simple, and lined up with the body nicely. The issue that I have always had with XJ's and MJ's is that aftermarket bumpers always seem to look awkward and out of place. CJ/YJ/TJ, JK bumpers, for the most part, look natural. I can't remember where I saw it.
  5. Looking at rear bumpers. Anyone have any pics of an aftermarket bumper with an intergrated 2" reciever that looks like it could almost pass for factory?
  6. In the event that I get around to the body work, I am thinking that I am going to fill in the area where the tail lights sit and mount led lights in the future rear bumper/tire carrier.

    MJ save

Did you get the J20 too? Does anything rust in Colorado?
  8. My uncle had an amx, that was a scary car. He could slowly accelerate up to the bottom end of 4th gear and then put the thing sideways in an instant.
  9. 10w30 in the ax-5 as well?
  10. In my TJ I could slow down to a crawl and go from 2hi to 4low if I took the transmission out of gear and shifted it while rolling slowly.....the 207 in my comanche does not like this???? Is the 207 not shift on the fly?
  11. So the ax-15 with the dakota bellhousing will bolt up to the 3.4? What kind of dakota does the bellhousing need to come out of? I think that I read somewhere that the flywheel out of the donor camaro can be used to avoid balancing the manche one.
  12. Well, after 188 miles it moved from full to 3/4....I'm going to guess that it's the float/sending unit. I'm not sure what size tank the truck has in it, just that it's appears a bit larger than the tank that was in my TJ. I am really not looking forward to dropping the tank.
  13. Wires look good under the truck......wonder what my chances of finding a working sending unit for an 86 are?
  14. Can I get to this without dropping the tank? It's totally full at the moment.
  15. WOuldn't it just read E if the sender had failed? No voltage would read an empty tank, correct?
  16. The gauge has been working fine, up until last night. I usually don't drive the Comanche much and have only gassed it up once since I brought it home. And I only put in $25 that I had in my pocket, so it was not quite full. I really wasn't planning on driving it last night, but someone parked directly in front of my driveway I had no idea who the owner of the volvo was. We were going to a party 65 miles away and the gauge was reading E, so I went ahead and gassed it up(15.2 gal). The gauge read full and we went on our way. After the 130 mile round trip it's still reading full. ?????
  17. hmmm. the crack head renters across the street have one of those sitting on blocks in the back yard. Guess I should offer to take it off their hands when they're evicted/arrested.
  18. :hijack: How are you clamping your rails for your bed cover with the drop in liner?
  19. Am I the only one that thinks that it looks like a ZJ
  20. I think he's saying that it looks like a dana 44, as in it looks like every other dana 44 out there. Just my guess.
  21. Just went through this when I eliminated my prop valve. PB Blaster and vice grips are all I could get them off with. The flair wrenches actually rounded them off.
  22. Got it all put back together, and running the new line from the block was a big pita. At least the stupid valve is gone. O'Reilleys actually had a threaded plug that fit perfectly into the block. I didn't do an o-ring or any rtv, maybe I should have. I just opened the package and threaded the brass plug in.
  23. Are these The same color as my interior? It dawned on me today that I have one that's the right color and one that's purple. Do I have burgundy?
  24. Thats not a leak. It's just sweats when you haul heavy loads. :smart:
  25. http://www.offroaders.com/tech/jeep/tra ... ry-904.htm http://www.jeepforum.com/wiki/index.php/30RH_/_32RH It's a pretty bad transmission. I've spent more money fixing the one in my first jeep than I did on all of my other mods combined.
