ftpiercecracker1 Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Anybody have the specs for the caliper bolts on a 90 4x4 swb? I have read thread on here that was over this, but my bolts are totally different. The heads on these bolts are a tiny 12point head, 5/16 socket which nobody seems to carry. I want to replace them with a plain jane hex. ftpiercecracker
mvusse Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 5/16 12 point should be readily available, although it is more likely it is a metric 8mm which is about identical in size. I have a few of them.

IIRC stock should be 7mm (or was it 9) Allen on older ones (pre 90?) and 10mm hex head on newer ones.
ftpiercecracker1 Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Thanks, but do you . . . well hell, if i can get one out i will just take it to Fastenal. PS. Lowes does NOT carry 12 point sockets that small metric or standard :fs1:
anti-christ-comanche Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 the exhaust manifold studs for a 2.5 are 3/8-16 1.75 inches long it looks like and the intake manifold bolts are 3/8-16 1.25 inches long just for finding the sizes of various bolts and nuts try hear, http://www.factorychryslerparts.com, hope this helps
ftpiercecracker1 Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 HO Temp SENSOR in the thermostat: 3/8 NPT Renix radiator coolant fan SWITCH: 22mm x 1.5 (may be seen/listed as M22)
daking Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 anyone know the size and thread pitch of the nuts that connect the transfer-case to the AW4 transmission? There are studs on the case, and go through the transmission, and secured with nuts. I'm missing all the nuts.
daking Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Went to junk yard and pulled some bolts. They are 3/8 X 24 pitch (3/8 fine thread) with integrated washer to distribute torque load over a wider surface, and prevent the nut from getting stuck. Thanks
DirtyJeepGuy Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Since i couldnt find this at all anywhere. The 86 Throttle Body // Intake Stud nuts are M6x1.00.
daking Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 http://www.threadtoolsupply.com/inch-metric-thread-checker.html Someone needs to take all the current posts and make a spreed sheet or a table of them on the first page. Maybe organized by location, "Engine", "Drive-train [transmissions, transfer-cases, drive shafts, axles]", "Body", "inside", and so on..
DirtyJeepGuy Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 If they don't. I can mess with it on my down time. It would help.
Tex06 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Bolts that mount the CPS to the top of the tranny are special, but the dimensions are m7x1.0x25mm. The back of the hole is open on AX-15 transmissions so a longer (30mm) bolt can be used.
Broke Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Anybody know what holds up the brake release? Found out mine wasn't damaged but the screw heads popped off.
Double Six Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Anybody know the size of the bolts that hold the fan shroud on the radiator of a 2.5 ? it's an 86 model.
HOrnbrod Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Anybody know the size of the bolts that hold the fan shroud on the radiator of a 2.5 ? it's an 86 model. Don't know the size but the p/n is J3189013 and they were used on XJ/MJ fan shrouds up to 1996.

It is very handy to have around. Especially when 3/4 of your hardware is not sorted.
OldSch88L Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 Crankshaft position sensor is M7X1.0, but good luck finding that somewhere other than the dealer since it's an uncommon size, and half of the shank is an unthreaded shoulder, to precisely center the sensor. If you lose 'em, I found out that big conical head Phillips screws of the right size work perfectly to self-center the sensor. Found them in my bucket-O'-bolts from when I worked at a body shop, and IIRC, they're for a door jamb striker, can't remember what car though!!!

1989commanche Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 Anyone know the size of the bolt holes about the middle of the bottom of the block just above the oil pan. I have a oil pan skid that bolts there. Can’t figure out what the thread is. Want to run a tap through to chase but there’s too munch junk in the hole. Don’t want to screw it up.

It is in one of the holes I need to use anyway. It should be the same as the other side I would think.

The one on the passenger side ended up being a regular 3/8 coarse thread bolt. The driver side is the knock sensor. It’s a finer thread and a little larger. I think m10-1.25.
1989commanche Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 Driver side used the knock sensor as a bolt.
